Jamie drove the #34 for the several years he competed in the street stock division. When Texaco Havoline came on board as the major sponsor of the late model driven by Doug Stewart, the number was changed from #2 to #42 and the car was painted the same as the Sprint Cup car. Jamie's street stock also had that same paint scheme but the number remained 34. When Doug lost that late model ride and Jamie took it over, sponsored by Total, the number was changed to 22, upsetting Jamie a lot, because that was the "personal" sports number worn by an affiliate of the car owner. That is the only reason Jamie drove a car numbered 22 instead of 34. Jamie Ramsay was replaced in the #22 car by Jamie Cox, at the final Delaware race of 2010, without a minute's notice or a truthful reason for the change. Ramsay was totally alienated by the #22 car owner and his affilates, Total, and some members of his pit crew who had been with him since his street stock days. This rather strange series of events was upseting to Ramsay. Jamie loved nothing more than to hang out in his shop with friends and family talking about his racing days, but virtually never mentioned the years he drove the #22 Total car. He tried his best to forget those days and the hurt they caused him. Consequently, I"m very sure he would never want anything associating him with the #22 car to show up in print. Honestly, I just love the concept of the decal, and am very happy that people care so much about Jamie, but, since many people know the way his association with Canusa ended and the hurt it caused him, I am not sure how many #22 decals would be sold.
Thanks again Chrisser. Chris, the guy who came up with this, is going to happily redo the emblem.
Understand, this is just a racing community project, and the decals will likely not be sold for money. Jamie was a popular fellow and its just one small way for us to keep him in our thoughts.
I won't "out" you here chrisser, but I know who you are. Jamie was a good guy and his loss must be devastating. My prayers are with you all.
Chris has redone the emblem.
That is beautiful, absolutely PERFECT. A huge thank you to everyone involved from the Love of Jamie's life and the entire Ramsay family. We can't wait to see the decals when they're done.
What a special group of people, both racers and fans, make up our terrific Delaware Speedway, and other Ontario short tracks' family. Jamie was so very happy and proud to be a member of that family, that he couldn't wait for race nights whether he was personally racing or not. You folks are super!!!
