And that's why it better to have the season start early and finish late so you have time to make up for rain cancellations. It's a known fact as well that summer season is longer than it use to be. Golf courses seem to understand that

I can agree with you to a point spindoctor but I can also see the track's point especially a new ownership group. If it rains early in the season a golf course doesn't lose much and can even still make some money. Never understood golfing in the rain or golfing period for that matter LOL. Early season golfers don't really care about course condition. Racers expect, and rightfully so, good course conditions. It takes more people to run a race track then it does to open up a golf course for early spring play. This costs more for tracks to accommodate and if they get rained out there are a lot of costs that won't get recouped. Yes I know you take this chance in the summer also but the odds of good warm weather in the early spring to bring out fans is kind of a hit and miss thing. A new ownership group would want to lessen the odds of starting out a new season with a loss. Just say'n. I don't know if this was part of their reasoning or not but seems like it could be part of it to me.
