INVADER FROM THE BEACH CHENOWETH WINS NOS ENERGY DRINK 100

July 20, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[RESULTS BELOW]

Delaware, ON –  Invading driver Shawn Chenoweth of Sauble Speedway (Sauble Beach, ON) won the NOS Energy Drink 100 Friday evening at Delaware Speedway.  Chenoweth took the lead in lap eighty-one from Jeremy Reid (#76) of Kerwood.  As a result of a unique format that offered extra prize money for dropping to the rear of the event after the first fifty-lap segment, he took home double his prize money for a total of $2,000. Other drivers who doubled their pay-out through the format were Jeff Showler (#44) of Mt. Elgin who came in second place and Kris Lawrence (#28) of London who came in fifth.  Kenny McNichol Jr (#17) of Exeter finished third place.

The top driver at the end of the first 50-lap segment was Jeff Showler (#44) of Mt. Elgin who led all but two laps.  He said in an interview that he didn't wish to take the special top-5 challenge, which allowed drivers who finished in the top-5 to drop to the rear with the opportunity to double their payout.  If any of the top-5 took the challenge, all of them would drop to the rear which Darrell Lake (#77) made a reality, sending himself Showler, Shawn Chenoweth (#89), Kris Lawrence (#28), and Matt Robblee (#51) to the back of the line up in the second segment.

Darrel Lake (#77) of London set a track record earlier in the event during the qualifying time trials for the Coca-Cola Super Stocks with a time of 21.010.  The previous track record had been held by Brad Clarke (#52) of Thedford whose record had stood since June 6, 2009.

Gary Adriaensen (#55) of Belmont won the Demar Aggregates Trucks 25-lap feature after winning both combined truck heats.  Adriaensen took the lead on lap three of the race from James Marche (#6) of London.  Tom Zagorodny (#77) was second and Trevor Collver (#51) was third.

Next Friday is the Vintage Modifieds Amazing Value Night sponsored by Ground Masters Landscapers & Constructors. The program includes Vintage Mods, FT Garage Late Models, Demar Aggregates Trucks, and F-4 Mods. There will be a classic car cruise before the races begin. Gates open at 6:00 pm and racing starts at 8:00 pm.

Yes, I think they made a mistake on his hometown as well. I always thought it was Plattsville.

Way to go Shawn.    He was racing a little at Sunset and also ran the TC at Flamboro as well.  Shawn also had a good car in the OSCAAR division.  Runs in the top of the class everywhere he goes.
