Sid I understand where your coming from but if there was no advantage to opening a crate and hopping it up and taking the 100 penalty then why bother? Yes there is an advantage, if there wasn't we would not be bothering discussing this point. The amount of money you could spend on a crate is wide open. This kind of goes against why the crate was developed. So if you are proponent of heads up racing than I fail to see the urgency of pushing the envelope. Why is it everybody can't be happy the cheaper alternative?
I'm kinda curious if you'd be willing to swap engines for a week or two? That way we could really see if there is a difference. My concern

Jim
I have Np with what ever you need to know about (MY Motor!! )
If you really must know call Car-Quest and ask for Terry  519-679-9600 and for $1800 you can can get a broken crate fixed like I did ..but at the end of the day my motor is classed as a built now.....
We ran a crate and built this season several times, so you tell me the diffrents..because we finish the same both ways

I am surprised with the lack of replies on the Truck/SS combo platter.  I would think that actually policing the cars that run at 3200 would make all guys happy since there hasn't been a week since I came up to SS that my fellow racers haven't been complaining about so and so's cheated engine. Of note: the 100 lb penalty is the result of using a formula accepted by almost all sanctioning bodies to handicap engines. Jeff Wilcox, Leon Manning and some engine builders came up with this engine option keeping costs in line and having an option.  If the engine is built to the rules, the crate still has a slight advantage.  I'd be more concerned with crate cars that are sideways off every corner and still run 21:20's consistently.

Looking back at last year Enduro guys I would say if your going to move anyone up that is faster then 24 well then u just might have to cancel the enduros cuz there will be like 10 cars that don't make it.  I think just slow the fast guys down and build the field back up.  Don't kill it.  Friday nights means more money and more time. Not what enduro is about. Just my thoughts.
