about $2000
and that's a good idea for that class?
it must be good for the class
didn't you see the vote count
sounds like there will be 28 full time SS next year
I wondered about the number of votes to, the main thing that confuses me is a street stock body would end up being $500 more than a late model body.......I can see why Sid's would be more expensive since they developed and built it from scratch, I just don't think it makes sense for that class.
That is fairly steep for a mid level class, unless it came with a few extra panels for bumps and scrapes through the season.
Keeping things in perspective, everything in the SS class is expensive, upto and including spinning the engines so dam fast.
There are 6 cars in the field running well, the rest are left behind. Look at the points spread from the season past. Our team was 6th with THREE dnf's and a screwed call getting pulled off the track by clean crew guys pretending to be track officials (or somebody lied) . The point I'm trying to make is what happened to 7 on back? They were miles back.
The shock ruling was utter bull but by a show of hands only 3 teams were opposed to it. So the shocks went from SEALED STOCK MOUNT to REVALVABLE SCREW ON MOUNT at tripple the cost.
The shocks were already on the track with the lame ass excuse that they were a $100 bucks!...Bull they aren't 100 cause you can't use them with out the mounts! PLUS you were not allowed take-apart shocks. So we started the season with 4 new shocks and by race 5 they were obsolete?
And you wanna trash the new body idea? Because of cost?
The new body is a marketing tool for the division, you can present this to a pontential sponsor and be reasonably assured that if he's gunna hang a decal on your car he's gunna wanna hang on something he can buy on the show room floor. I have shown the body to a couple of potential sponsors with a shot of our existing body...I don't need to tell wich they prefer. Think about it, the STAR WARZ Nova, The beat down GEN II or the 2010 Camaro, Mustang or Challenger
Keep driving the costs up and you need to keep coming up better ways to fund the division!! The fans are not going to see 3 tenths, so why does everybody wanna keep driving the under the body costs thru the roof?
I like the body Sid has presented, he and his guys have done a very good job with it on a reasonable budget. The fans and sponsors will both embrace the change. Sid is putting something back into the local economy and some of that money will end up back at the track! Pretty good formula for keeping it home town brewed I would think.
You are right Jim, and I wasn't complaining. I was actually looking at those bodies, because we have a car/chassis for two years away. The price isn't sticker shock to me. Mainly because I am used to hammering sheet metal into door panels, and going from there. It would be nice to just bolt them on... seriously would. But it does drive the initial cost up a tick, and we (as a team on our end) need to weigh that over going road course instead. Kevin and I don't care where we race, as long as we are having fun.
