here here on that one Jim... might even be in-line for Shadows gig when he is unable to make it??
So does this mean we will see the old girl back on the track in 2011?
I'm hoping they scrap the 9" 50lb weight penalty. It's kind of negative to give somebody a penalty for trying to improve safety and the quality of the show. All in all I would have to say that the track has really taken allot of the concerns made by the various teams into consideration. At his point everything is tentative but it seems there may be changes that will enhance the programme. An important point to bring to light is the possible scrapping of the no header for built engine rule change. This may bring a few of the old built engines back to the track, or it may open a can of worms 😮
The problem with the 9" rears , to me , Jim is they were allowed to install adjustable rear spring pockets and track bar, all accessible from the rear deck. Those with rear leafs and 10/12" weren't even allowed to have rear shackles with extra holes, let alone adjustable front mounts. A car with a 9" setup can not only do wedge adjustment and rear roll cte adjustments in seconds, they could do it on a caution if at the rear. Additionaly, during practice, they can make many more changes during each session then a car that would need to change shackles or add/remove spring spacers.
Ok but what does that have to do with Safety? nothing at all. I have a leaf car that has broken 3 axles and I'm not into breaking anymore. I'm not arguing for adjustable anything. I'm arguing for safety and obviously durability. As I read the rules springs are non-tech items hence the fiberglass springs some are using.
• Unless otherwise specified all chassis and suspension parts are to be constructed of magnetic steel.
Last time I checked fiberglass was not magnetic.
• All suspension parts are to be stock with no modifying, with the exception of approved tubular upper control arm
not of equal length (no needle bearing or monoball cross-shaft) or equivalent.
Aren't springs a suspension part?
I could spend quite a bit of time highlighting all kinds of contridictions in the rule book. CLEAR violations to black an white rules let alone arguing the stuff that is allowed.
We could go on for days arguing back and forth but why? apparenly the rules book will be overhauled and clarifyed...we hope.
Hey where does it say you can lower your engine enough that it would require a shorter oil pan?
Too clear things up I wanted to put a 9" on leafs with STOCK locations
