I'm defending the program we have in the SS at Delaware, that being said it has been a bit of a struggle for the teams to make changes to their cars. Some teams are getting done. We were dinged for ride height on first night back. Low by 3/16" but in the drivers meeting it was stated we have given teams time to comply...ok?
Clarity for the spools was enlightening but I use a Richmond, We not running for points just running for fun and basically it feels good to be back, The guys we race with are awsome and so is most things.
Lastly the bushing failed in the idler arm and Jake couldn't hang on the wheel, he knows when to pull off.
First off, I really would like to thank everyone for the props and the kind words. I don't normally come on here unless something wrong gets said, but in this case its all positve. Friday night was an amazing night for several reasons. It being the race of a man that I have heared so much great things about, from TONS of people. Darrell always told me dave thought him everything he knew, and I could see how happy this team was to win that race in daves honor. 2nd, the amount of work that was put into the car toget it ready to race fri night was crazy. We worked very hard makingg all the rule changes for delaware speedway, ( all but the mufflers, sorry ran out of time, but it will be fixed for next time) JWO came and helped me with the sway bar stuff, speical thanks to him for that. 3rd, Darrell went into this race with an attuide that i can say I respected 100percent. Felt very confident and wanted to win, putting all the things in the back of his mind of which happened the previous week. In prac we made great adjustments on the car, and our fastest lap was turned on the final lap of prac. Lap 32 of 32. That right there shows you a driver who is trying toget his car better in prac. 4th. For those who weren't there for the ss race friday night, Wow, man ill tell you this, that right there is why I am pleased to say I buildt and love the delaware ss divison. Not just the battle up front bbut everywhere. It was a great race all around and this divison will be the top divison that the fans want to see every friday nigjt in a few years. The race for the lead was wild, the 7 car didn't a good job keepin the lead, minus almost stickin my car in the fence. Props to him for a great battle.it was hard clean racing and I was untop of my truck nervous and excited. The last few laps showed that beating the 17 car on the outside ad passed him clean. In my mind is more of a pay back then wrecking him. It shows that the 77 team won't ever give up or fail. Props to the whole Lake 77 team for friday night. And on a side note, yes the car works great. Handles like a dream. He was able to pick up the throttle at least a car length before anyone. That came with great communication from the driver.. Very well deserved. I then went to sauble speedway where my family started to race, with the same set up that llake ran fri night, and won there aswell. Passed the leader on the top. So, hopefullly for next weeks race of champions, hoping to run well. And I'm proud togo to that race to represent the dynamic fluid superstock divion of delaware speedway. Thanks again everyone. #JR
JR, I think it's awesome that you lend your car out, work on it so someone else can drive it and get the glory of winning the race. Last time I checked you can drive an SS at Delaware and have the fun of driving your car and a good chance of winning...to stand back and let someone else enjoy what could have been yours is something that is done very rarely these days by people. You're the man..
So does this mean we are good now JR? 🙂
I have often wondered why more guys don't get their cars setup to run the outside better or at least 1/2 a lane up....or does this hurt your car when you run the inside? Maybe there isn't enough practice time to do this or is the outside too inconsistent to be able to get the setup right? Pass em where they ain't comes to mind.
Believe me Ernie we all try to make em work better out there. The problem is there is just no grip once you get off the sidewalk (concrete strip) the fact that the banking is actually less on the asphalt than the sidewalk doesn't help matters.
Jay, I can imagine that with the speed the LMs carry into the corners that grip would be an issue especially with the worn asphalt, but would the SS and trucks have more success at finding the magic formula? The new Cameros seem to be able to ride out there a bit better. Does this have something to do with weight distribution and center of gravity on those cars? I know everybody wants to be as fast as possible by going around the shortest distance but is there a beneficial trade off that can be had? I imagine that your engine having the low end grunt off the corner would help??
