MORE, MORE, MORE, PLEASE!!
Love this stuff. These SLM cars from back then are what I grew up on and still love today. Grew up at Checker Flag here in Windsor.
I know of many old Checker Flag pics if you are interested from the old photographer who has posted them
If you guys who put these up are on facebook, I would love to get in touch with you.
I collect old pics just like these and this has made my day.
I am a big Jr. Hanley fan and collector and would love to see some pics of his cars if you have any. I have tons of Hanley stuff but always looking for more.
Thanks again and looking forward to more old pics.
Ron N. in Windsor!
Remember these old pics are courtesy of Sharpie91, I'm just posting on his behalf.
It's interesting to me is the backgrounds on some of these pics. Look at the one of Zardo, and the paintjobs on those saggy ass benches in the background. Back then the stands went all the way to turn 1 and went down a lot lower. And the streaks of rust on the inner guardrails on most of these pics. (and the brand spanking new concrete walls in the turns, not even painted yet. (I think those barriers are the ones that are still there.)
Back then the speedway, while still a glorious experience, had all the character of a rundown gravel pit. Its really amazing how far the place came.
Next up....what appears to be individual car pics of pretty much the entire SS roster (A and B) from this same year.
This stuff is gold.
;D
jshields wants to see the tommy turn falcon hahaha
Hey you can laugh but that car just proves that even the back runners have fans for what ever reason ,and the fact that you still remember that car says it brought fun to your families night at deleware .
