Interesting stuff going on here,I was in the stands friday and it was a full moon.as for the 97 stretch is a very nice guy and have know him for years.stuff happens and tempers flare. The 60 car I am sure you guys have messed up before and I am sure your kid isnt perfect,Let It go and go racing. As far as delaware ,great track ,they are human and make errors to.If you dont like it race someplace where you think you will be treated better.ps I never hear the 33 truck hit the chip like the other trucks, very interesting.Just my thoughts
I would like to take a second and thank the #7 ss team for inviting me to drive on Friday. It was great to get back on the track, and I was glad I finished without wrecking. Also I would like to show my appreciation for the warm welcome back I received, I miss being around the track on Fridays. I would like to wish all the teams good luck, and I hope you all have some fun, that’s what we do it for.
You know, if you're busy fridays, I'm sure Spence would run the 51 around the track for you. Just sayin.
I wish I were at the track on Friday to see all this.
Lets see drivers getting angry at one another, that never happens in Stock Car racing.
Tempers flaring on teams and with officials, again that never happens in Stock Car racing.
Teams not being kicked out for incidents on the track or pits, again that never happens in Stock Car racing.
Cars getting into one and other one says "he pulled down", the other "he went up", lets see the replay and the drivers hands and the car directions etc. Oh right we have no instant replay.
Personally I think this makes for better racing, fans don't know what's gonna happen next week so they come see. Media can hype this, or the fans on websites like you are all doing.
Some people like some people some people don't like some people, will that ever change? We always need a bad guy in the sport,
So how about we put all the teams in mention on double.... no lets make it triple secret probation.
Go sort it out on the track the people involved have been talked to, now go race clean and beat the other team and know you are superior.
so true DB71.
And guys waiting for someone to come around so they can slam them into the wall....i have seen that done by some of the best drivers around over the years....infact at varney once at a invitational one guy had the car pinned and rammed it a good 5 times in the feature...he started tail and didnt even try to race he just waited for the guy to come around during the race then went after him...the guy in the car being rammed hopped out and was in the grandstand to watch the last 2 hits...and the rammer got to his pit just before his tow vehicle was being lit on fire, seems someone poured their extra fuel all over the inside of the cab....all this over a cut tire which forced the rammer to qualify thru the consi...when lipskie started showing up at flammy and beating the regulars a couple of top drivers did it...it has happened for years...it's how the track and officials deal with it that is important....at varney the rammer was banned forever, but he wasnt a regular so it didnt really bother him...
jcrashm2 and DB71, you guys are absolutely right. Controversy makes for great media coverage and certainly gives fans something to come back for....a cliff hanger if you will!
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see anyone get hurt in the pits or on the track and I certainly don't want to see racers equipment get wrecked but short track racing is definitely a contact sport and it's gunna happen.
I like to think I was a clean driver, never wanting to spin anyone but we got into some huge shouting matches and a real donny brook with another team who's driver took a swing at my dad over an incident that had nothing to do with us! I of course lost my cool and ended up in a all out brawl with the other team. We lost our money that night and were given last place points after finishing 3rd which I accepted. The ironic thing was I was voted most sportsmanlike driver that year by my peers!.....we still get a chuckle about that one!
As far as booing a good driver, that's just racing too! People have their favorites and it's usually done because they are doing well and most drivers thrive on it!
So everyone relax and go out Friday night to check out the continuing saga of "As Delaware Turns"!
