I wasn't at the track on Friday but because I've been going to the pits as the son of a racer and then a 10yr stint racing myself, I know how things can get out of hand pretty quickly.

If you think this is something "new" and "never happens normally", you really need a reality check. I'm not trying to upset anyone but come on, this has been going on as long as 2 horse drawn buggies decided to see who could get to general store and back the fastest! Even Shadow said that he had learned a long time ago to stay away from the pits on "full Moon type" nights! There have been many rivalries and incidents that make this one look like a "church meeting" (no offence).

The driver of the 7 truck has it right, not everyone is like this and the most fun I had was having a "wide eyed" little girl or boy stand in awe when you gave them an autographed picture or let them sit in the drivers seat!

If you think the bad side of competition is going to stop because someone is banned from the track, your really fooling yourselves...it's the way it's always been and the way it will always be. Don't get me wrong, it's dangerous to do what the 97 did in the pits and wrecking other peoples stuff isn't cool but it happens. Agreed, the 97 needs a reality check and some sort of penalty but for people to think that this doesn't happen, even to nice guys, you're sadly mistaken.

I remember the 97 SS as a great guy when Stretch was driving it, I don't think there was a racer out there that Dave Sr. didn't help with a cheap frame straightening and some good bench racing at his shop!
I only hope that Jr smartens up a bit and realizes what can happen when emotions get the best of you. But if you think it's never going to happen again because he's not there......

Don't blame track promoters and officials, emotions run very high in racing but it's how you move forward from incidents like these that show your true colors.

"It was pretty shocking; a completely one-sided affair with the race team looking to leave and the official berating the people inside the truck, almost acting like he was hoping for a brawl.  I couldn't hear every detail but I did hear the official yell - in so many words - that this team would never set foot inside the speedway again under his watch,"           I know we are all wondering...... who was the race team that all that happened to?

Although I have not been to the track in over a year I must admit to my shock over this, and truly hope the team in question gets an apology for not only the official , but also the management of the track. I have assumed that the official was new and let the pressue get to him?

I'll second that. I always liked Dave Sr. Good guy and an intelligent guy too. Always liked watching him run.

Now this is even crazier than one would have thought???

What is the team doing about it?
