Just a note that there's another Maudsley article on Delaware's page about the modifieds this year. Nothing we didn't really know, but its there.

The article makes enough sense.  What I saw that piqued my interest though, was that they're reducing the payouts AND reducing the race dates.

It seems to me that you'd draw more interest to the part-time or down-on-their-luck Modified teams by reducing the race dates (making them sort of "special invitational races"), making them non-points but upping the purses.  The same could be true of one race at Sauble or one race at Varney.

Then maybe the year after, enough of them get exposure or get sponsorship opportunities because of the "big time" races they ran.

Just a thought.

The delaware site talks about the races costing the drivers too much money because of the cost of tires??? yes very expensive but what about the cost to get in the place? the gate prices for drivers and crew are crazy! maybe if we didn't spend hundreds of dollars at the gate to put on the show we could all afford to put the tires on the cars. used tires, sure great idea but isn't racing meant to be fast? not slowing us down just to let us race. OH! also you need a license to drive a car, there should have to be some kind of test or something that all these drivers need to take before goin no the track, mainly the god damn late models! they piss me off!! no need for that many cautions, and hey maybe the people are not watching the mods race because they have gone home after watching the damn late mods race! delaware wants more mods in a class, but then look what happens, late models have the biggest class and its nothing but a mess out there! more time on yellow then green. Yes people like watching all the crashes but if they make the mod class that big then they will not be affording alot more then just tires. Track that size doesn't need to be so congested. no wonder people dont want to race in the mods with having to race with experimental engines, where the team still gets the points and the money? people in the grand stands don't have a clue! oh and seeing as this site takes 10 years to reg on this is not fastracer, its ziggy

Any news?  Have always loved the modifieds.  It would sweet to see more mods than late models myself.

OWM racing starts on May21 at Delaware speedway. It be nice to see some new comers this year. Are crew is looking forward to a great racing season. By the way the Sauble Speedway race is July the 3rd. It will have all open wheel cars that night with a big purse for the modifieds. On their schedule it has the CAN-AM, Vintage Modifieds, Open Wheel Modifieds, Hurricane Midgets. Should be a great show. Hope to see everyone at the tracks again this year.
