OK Folks, here it is. I'm a little rusty, and its late. But I'll start with my usual pre-amble
I am not a reporter. I only play one on the internet. I do NOT work for Delaware. The views expressed here are only my account of the night's events from a fan's perspective up in the stands. Sometimes I miss stuff and sometimes I get it wrong (Usually when its 4 in the morning and I'm trying to decipher my own chickenscratch) If you find any major discrepancies, please write them out on a 20 dollar bill and send it to CRO. We'll have our complaints department look into it. 😉

Demar Aggregates Trucks
Truck Heat 1
Truck heat 1 featured the debut of 17-Mickey Brydges and 3-Shae Gemmell, as well as a brand new bright yellow livery for 4-Lonny Thompson and a new red, white and black paint scheme for 88-Sid McDonald. (For those out of the loop, team Ultimate has flipped their truck numbers for the year, with Fothergill sporting the 33 and McDonald sporting the 88, unlike last year)
The early going was a 2 truck battle for 1st between 82-McCaw and 88-McDonald. McCaw got out in front to stay but McDonald was knocking on his door the whole way.
Final 1st to McCaw, 2nd to McDonald and 3rd to 00-Johns
Truck Heat 2
Heat 2 featured the debuts of three new trucks as well, namely 93-Matt Koricina, 57-Gary "Blue Thunder" Triska and 5-Tony Sloetjes.
At the start, it was 55-Adriaensen out front followed by 99-Koricina and 33-Fothergill. It didn't take long for Fothergill to challenge however, as he was past Koricina and challenging for the lead by the halfway markers.
First caution of the 2010 season flew when 01-Bloemendal and 56-Showler made contact on the backstretch. Bloemendal went around and 16-Hosang plowed into him, caving the right front corner of her truck in. (They got it pounded out for the feature, but it was not to be Kathleen's night)
When the checkers flew it was Fothergill in 1st, Adriaensen 2nd and 99-Koricina 3rd.
Demar Aggregates Truck Division Feature
Well, a hill full of fans came to shake off the winter with some hot racing, and the truck division once again served it up BIG TIME with a no holds barred, don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-something main event.
With Eye of the Tiger booming on the mic, they roll them out. The race starts with 99-Koricina on point with 00-Johns alongside, followed by Adrieansen/McDonald, then McCaw/Fothergill, then Showler/77-Zagarodny.
Right off the green flag, you can tell everyone wants it bad, and with the pack flying down the backchute, its actually Team Ultimate that suffers the first mishap when teammates Fothergill and McDonald get into one another in the melee and end up falling back to a distant 7th and 8th. Up front its Koricina followed by Johns, Adrieansen, Showler, McCaw and Bloemendal. Unfortunately for Bloemendal, something goes wrong on the truck and he has to bring it in. McDonald is also having trouble: whatever happened on the first lap hurt something on the truck and he ends up in the pits as well.
Now at lap 7 your lead pack is still Koricina, Johns, Adrieansen and Showler. McCaw is in 5th but Fothergill has recovered from the first lap mishap and is bearing down hard on McCaw for the 5th spot. 75-Depuis is in 7th and closing in on the lead fray.
By lap 11, Fothergill has gotten past McCaw and is now going to work on Showler. Up front, Koricina comes up on a lap truck and Adrieansen splits the difference, going high and coming out side by side with Koricina. Adrieansen completes the pass for 1st but Koricina stays right with him until the caution flies on lap 13 for Hosang who's spun in turn 3. (rough night for the Hosang team)
On the restart, Fothergill shoots past Showler and is now drag racing with Johns for 3rd, when another mishap comes, this time for 3-Gemmell who goes hard into the turn 4 wall. Caution.
After that restart, Adrieansen is still in front with Koricina 2nd. Fothergill is now past Johns and goes to work on Koricina. Koricina drifts high in 4 and Fothergill scoots by to take 2nd. However, theres a big schmozzle coming out of 2. There's trucks everywhere and Depuis and Clark are sideways on the track. The caution works in Koricina's favor as the order goes to the lap before...thereby giving Koricina her spot back.
One failed restart and now Showler is around in turn 2, so another caution. That's at lap 16.
Now we get a few laps in. The order is still Adrieansen, Koricina, Fothergill, Johns, and McCaw - with 31-Howard up into 6th. Johns and McCaw are waging a side by side battle for 4th. Fothergill finally gets the move on Koricina to bag 2nd spot, and now has Adrieansen in his crosshairs. A little further back, rookie Matt Koricina is closing in on the fray in 7th spot.
Now the worst impact of the night comes and its right on the fronstretch. Showler goes spinning around with a pack bearing down on him. Trucks scatter. 9-Mike Thompson clips him hard, then 7-Clark nails him full bore. Kee-runch. Another caution to clean up the mess. Both are pretty bent up ...Clark with the frontend smashed in and Showler with BOTH ends smashed in. Showler goes back on the hook and I think Clark does too.
So now a restart with 4 to go. Its Adrieansen, Fothergill, Koricina, then Johns/McCaw and Howard/93-Koricina. Fothergill bobbles, and McCaw makes a surprise move past Johns, Koricina and Fothergill to take 2nd. Fothergill drops back to 5th and looks like he's got something wrong. Last caution for Howard going around in 3/4 to set up the final laps...and Fothergill is IN THE PITS.
Now at the final restart, Koricina is back in 2nd with McCaw pushing her hard. Adrieansen has the lead well in hand, and McCaw can't seal the deal with Koricina.
Final 1st to Adrieansen, 2nd to Michelle Koricina, 3rd to McCaw, 4th to Johns and 5th to Matt Koricina.

Super Stocks
Super Stock Heat 1
Heat 1 featured the debut of 17-Rob Anderton, and a debut of sorts for 5-Jim Mairs new car which used to be the 67 of Shawn Hewitt.
At the green flag, 28-Lawrence jumped to an early lead followed by 60-Ott. Only incident of note was that 99-Nagy seemed to be having a rotten setup night, at one point looping the car in turn 1 by himself, and later bringing out caution when he and 55-Yeo got together on the backchute sending Nagy hard into the inside fence. At the restart, Lawrence reinstated his lead and that's where it stayed. 1st to Lawrence, 2nd to Ott, 3rd to 84-Smith.
Super Stock Heat 2
Debuts-the 74+, driven by Al Bowman, who would undoubtedly be the oldest competitor to ever go for rookie of the year honors at Delaware. Al is 75. That is awesome. This heat also featured the debut of 69-Kris Root, as well as the return of Dave Silverthorn Jr (sporting the 97 this year), and the 66 Jens Peters car, this year being driven by Devon Bloemendal.
This race was a classic Richmond Row duel, with 3-Perkins starting alongside 24-Richmond. (I was getting nervous I tell ya...I had Perkins's mom sitting on one side of me and Richmond's mom sitting on the other side of me. Good thing we're all friends!)
Anyway, Perkins led this one flag to flag with Richmond hot on his bumper, with Lidster back in 3rd...and thats the way it ended.
Super Stock Feature
The Super Stock Main starts with 84-Smith on the point with 24-Richmond alongside, then 60-Ott/3-Perkins, then 28-Lawrence/11-Lidster.
Right off the green flag, its a drag race between Richmond and Smith with Smith coming out ahead. Richmond stays right on his bumper and the two begin to distance themselves. Perkins gets left out to dry on the high side and goes backwards while everyone else falls into line. Once the field shakes itself out, its Smith and Richmond out in front, followed by Ott, Lawrence, 77-Lake, 7-Sheilds and Lidster.
Mishap for 74-Bowman who appears to break something on his car and goes sailing into the turn 1 wall. Pretty good impact there too, but he manages to drive it away.
Lawrence puts the pressure on Ott and makes the pass for third with Lake following him through. At the halfway, its still Smith and Richmond out front. Richmond is dialing up the heat and putting some pressure on, trying a few moves. He pulls alongside a couple times over the waning laps, and once almost outfoxes Smith in some lap traffic...but Smith still manages to hang on. It's a two car race at this point. Then at lap 22 theres a problem with Mairs. He makes contact with someone else and ends up sideways in turn 1/2 to bring out the caution.
Now at this point there's a funny moment when the announce team does the "informal crowd poll" to see who's rooting for who out of the top 3 drivers. Unfortunately they skipped over the third place car and went right to the 4th, which was Darrell Lake. Lawrence was in 3rd...but no one got to cheer for him. (Its ok Kris...we cheered for ya anyway.) For the record, the crowd was pretty evenly divided.
So in the end, despite a few last ditch moves by the 24 car, Smith managed to hold off Richmond to take the win.
Final - 1st to Smith, 2nd to Richmond, 3rd to Lawrence, 4th to Lake, 5th to Lidster.

NASCAR Late Models
Late Model Heat 1
Debuts- our own Racer43, Jay Doerr is back in the LM ranks this year, as well as 21-Matt Pritiko, 10x Gord Shepherd, 08-Jason Parker, 33-Jamie Grover in "The Franken-car", and 81-Gresel's new ride, which is rumored to be the ex-number 15 that Steve Matthews drove last year.
At the green flag, 10-Kennedy jumped into the lead followed by Doerr and 72-Thompson. Caution flies when Parker and 8-Jacobs both go around in 1. At the restart the order stays the same and in the ensuing laps the real battle is for 4th between 20-Lindsay and 52-Sheridan...which Sheridan wins.
1st to Kennedy, 2nd to Doerr, 3rd to Thompson
LM Heat 2
Things start to heat up in the second LM heat. 28-Robblee takes an early lead while 2-Stewart, 14-Emery, 22-Ramsay, and 78-Watson all go after 2nd spot like 4 hungry dogs going after the same bone. It all comes to an end when Emery gets into Stewart and they both end up collecting Ramsay, leaving the second spot to Watson. After the restart, Robblee is on the run with Watson staying right with him. It is reported that Watson is in fact the fastest car on the speedway, but he can't quite manage to get around Robblee. 1st to Robblee, 2nd to Watson, 3rd to Ramsay.
Late Model Feature
21 cars took green for the first NASCAR Late Model feature of the year. Polesitter was 78-Watson with 43-Doerr alongside, followed by Robblee/Kennedy, then Thompson/Ramsay. (Interesting moment when 14-Emery managed to spin out all by himself during pace laps.)
So off the green, its Watson out in front with Robblee tucked in right behind him. Kennedy is lurking closeby in 3rd, followed by the pack of Thompson, Ramsay, Lindsay and Sheridan. Its obvious Watson is fast today but he never gets too far in front of Robblee.
Now Doerr is around in turn 2 and we suspect someone helped, but no one knows who it was. At one point during the caution Doerr pulls alongside 81-Gresel and appears to have something to say, so perhaps that was our answer.
Now we get into a couple of failed restarts. On one of them, Thompson and 37-Elliott are around in 3, then on another there's a backstretch mess involving 69-Rawlings, Doerr, and Thompson....with a spin and a near miss from 33-Grover who spins himself to keep from hitting Doerr. Grover manages to get out unscathed, but both Rawlings and Doerr are in bad shape. Doerr goes back on the hook.
So now the race restarts for real. Watson is in front with Robblee still right on his bumper. Kennedy is still in 3rd and now Ramsay and Sheridan are duking it out for 4th spot...a fight that Sheridan ultimately wins.
Sheridan now has Kennedy in his sights for third. So we have two 2 car battles going on. First is Watson/Robblee and then Sheridan/Kennedy. Up front there's contact. Robblee pulls alongside Watson on the inside but Watson hugs the nearest lap car to get Robblee off him. Sheridan and Kennedy are drag racing now for 3rd.
Now at approx lap 25, Watson and Robblee go screaming down the backchute. Robblee throws it low going into three and tags Watson, sending the 78 car into the fence. When the 28 car comes around again, Sharpie is waving the black flag at him and Robblee goes to the back of the line. (That's something you don't see every day.) This leaves Sheridan in the lead, followed by Kennedy, Ramsay, Lindsay, 21-Pritiko and 27-Box.
Further mishaps for 10X-Shepherd who spins in 3 for a caution, and one for Ramsay, who's car just drops dramatically off the pace for some mechanical mishap. (No caution in this case)
And in the end its the win to Sheridan, 2nd to Kennedy, 3rd to Lindsay, 4th to Pritiko, and 5th to Gresel
That's the race reports. There'll be a bit of commentary/pitter patter type stuff later, but I'm going to bed now. G'nite!
Great way to kick off the 2010 racing season! It was a hard fought night for both the 99 and 93 trucks. The result was well worth it.
I also surprised myself tonight in KOTH...
Right Rear tire went flat on the 22 with just 8 laps to go cost us a third place finish o well we'll get em next week.

You guys were not too shabby at all all out there. Great job! Too bad about the flat.
