I just sent a heads up to the Freeps, in case they hadn't heard already.
Here's hoping they're as generous with the headlines when the news is good
the freeps? give me a break that would interfere with their quest to make the thinnest and lightest paper. If it wasn't for the tv guide on saturdays there would be no need to buy a freeps at all.
Well, it looks pretty much like cut-and-paste reporting, but at least it made the paper.

Wilcox familiar with Delaware

Delaware Speedway has added another piece of its 2007 racing puzzle with the hiring of an operations manager.
The owners of the speedway announced Jerry Wilcox will take charge of all the major operations of the speedway for this season.
Wilcox brings a great deal of experience and expertise to the speedway. He's been in the automotive and business world for more than 35 years. In late 1970s, he was a technical inspector for the Delaware Speedway street stock division. He worked with former track owner Tony Novotny as the first tech director of the CASCAR Super Series. Wilcox has worked on numerous Delaware racing vehicles and been at the track as an employee and as a competitor.
"I enjoy a good challenge," Wilcox said. "I really look forward to working with everyone at Delaware Speedway and the business partners. Our business partners and fans are very important to us.
"My priority is to improve these operations by getting all parties working together at the speedway and food concession/speedway improvements. We need to move forward in 2007 with a fresh business program."
The addition of an operations manager is good news for Delaware Speedway, which has been battered by its share of problems, such as the loss of key employees, including track manager Kevin Bulmer and operations director Amy Dugas.
John Sheppard of Scarborough, Arlen Scherba of Sombra, Dave McDonald of Freelton and Dave Meldrum of Stratford bought the speedway from Novotny in November 2002. There have been rumours there may not be racing this season, but the owners assured the public and the drivers in a recent meeting there would be.
The hope is that Wilcox's business background will help the track get back on its feet financially.
"The race program has been doing an absolutely fantastic job listening to its competitors for the last two years," Wilcox said. "Now the business side needs to do the same thing with its business partners. We need to work with everyone to make the whole business the absolute best it can be."
The 2007 Delaware Speedway season kicks off April 28 with an APC Enduro 250.
