Good evening all!

Well the night started off right with nary a cloud in the sky and a pit full of Powerade Modifieds, Demar Aggregates Trucks, Super Stocks, and Ultimate Sandblasting Chaos Cars, and lets just say by the end of the night that the Chaos Cars truly lived up to their name!

For the full listing of the evening's finishing orders, go here: Delaware Scoring Results

And there's photos HERE courtesy of Maudsley Motorsports

Demar Aggregates Trucks

NOTE: This evening the 97 truck was piloted by Powerade Mod 57 driver Gary Brooks.

Heat 1 Starts out with 9-Thompson in the early lead with 97-Brooks up into 2nd. 81-Hilborn and 4-Thompson go around together in turn 2 but no caution. 9-Thompson hangs on for a little while then suddenly slows and 00-Johns gets around to take 1st. Great last lap battle for 2nd between Brooks, 9-Thompson and 99-Koricina. koricina forces her way through and at the end its 1st to 00-Johns, 2nd to 99-Koricina, 3rd to 9-Micheal Thompson

Heat 2 Great side by side racing for 1st between 7-Clark and 01-Bloemendal. Whole pack is bouncing off each other, and at one point 88-Fothergill gets in contact with 33-Rijnen, then bounces off 77-Zagaorodny and does a 360 in turn 1 to bring out caution. Once Fothergill get going again, he gets the black for delay of race.  1st to 01-Bloemandal, 2nd to 7-Clark, 3rd to 77-Zagarodny

Feature - This was a wild, wild race tonight that saw the return of a lot of 3 wide racing, in some cases for multiple laps. Its a drag race off the green between Hillborn and 9-Thompson, with Johns tucked in behind them waiting to make the move. Johns makes it three wide and when they come around, the 00's are in front with 16-Hosang following him through. Johns gets a little bit of space between himself and Hosang, but Hosang's dogging him and begins to close the gap. At the 10th marker, Johns and Hosang have taken off, as Showler, Fothergill and the rest of the top points guys are mired in a 2-3 wide mid pack. At the crossed flags, Hosang is all over Johns' bumper.

Now some of the the usual top suspects are beginning to break free with Bloemendal closing the gap on the leaders, followed closely by Fothergill. By the 17th curcuit the order is Johns, Hosang, Bloemendal and Fothergill all running bumper to bumper. Bloemendal gets alongside Hosang and manages to make the pass and Fothergill follows him through, and at lap 19 its Johns, Bloemendal, Fothergill and Hosang. Good battle for 2nd with Fothergill trying hard to get around Bloemendal, but it ends with what looked to me like contact in turn 3 that left Bloemendal spun out. Caution flies to set up the last 4 lap sprint.

At the restart, Fothergill is pushing Johns hard. He gets down low on the fronstretch to make the pass, and Hosang tries to follow him through, but Johns cuts down going into one and gets her out of shape enough to set her back a number of spots.

FINAL - 1st to 88-Fothergill, 2nd to 00-Johns, 3rd to 33-Rijnen, 4th to 99-Koricina and 5th to 56-Showler.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Super Stock

The night started with 76-Reid and 77-Lake in a dead heat for 1st in points, and 11-Lidster hoping to regain top spot after an extremely crummy outing last week.

Heat 1 - Silverthorn Jr takes the point in the 66-Peters car and stays there while 7-Sheilds tries everything to get around him. At one point 3-Perkins is off the 2nd turn wall, although not too badly this time. 99-Nagy is in 3rd and pulls alongside of Sheilds for a photo finish at the stripe for 2nd.
1st to Silverthorn, 2nd to 7-Sheilds (by a nose-hair) 3rd to 99-Nagy.

Heat 2 - 51-Rabideau takes a quick lead while 11-Lidster and 60-Ott go for 2nd. Rabideau's car looks like its all over the place, but he keeps it well in front to win the race. 1st to Rabidaeu, 2nd to Lidster, 3rd to 2-Rijnen

Feature - Early off its Silverthorn in front with Nagy close behind, then 67-Hewitt, and a drag race between Rabideau and 28-Lawrence for 4th. Before too long, Nagy is around Silverthorn, and brings Rabideau along with him. At lap 9, Rabideau is pushing the 99 car hard and on the 10th go around the 51 is in the lead. At this stage of the game, points leaders Lake and Reid are bogged down at the end of the lead pack. The order is Rabideau, Nagy, Hewitt, Lidster, 24-Richmond, Reid and Lake. At one point there's a caution as 48-McColl goes around in 1, and at another point theres a good side by side battle between Richmond and Lidster that ends with Lidster in 4th and Richmond in 5th. Now there's battles happening all over the racetrack, but most significant is that 2nd pack of Lidster, Hewiit, Richmond, Reid and Lake who are all going at it tooth and nail and allowing Rabideau to put a little distance in.

Now past the halfway, Nagy gets a little out of shape and Lidster, Lake and Reid are past him....and now its 3 to go and Lidster has the 51 car in his sights. While Lidster is reeling him in, the Lake-Reid-Richmond trio are battling it out for 3rd. There's contact in 3-4 between Lidster and Rabideau and now the blue and yellow 11 is in the lead, Rabideau's in 2nd, and after contact with Lake, Reid and Richmond are side by side for 3rd. Lake's back to 5th, and 84-Smith takes the opportunity to slide up into 4th.

Last lap schmozzle in turn 3-4 leaves Lawrence sitting up against the fence, and I believe Nagy was involved too.

FINAL - 1st to Lidster, 2nd to Rabideau, 3rd to Richmond, 4th to 84-Smith, 5th to Lake.
------------------------------------------------------

Powerade Modifieds

We saw tonight the return of Tyler Finlay in the 59 car, and the debut of yet another paint scheme on 57-Brooks. Brooks' car is still white, but with green number and trim now instead of red. Findlay is nephew to Rob Starr who ran mods here a while back. The 59 car that got totaled a couple months ago was one of Rob's old cars, as was the car that was out tonight. Great to see Tyler back after what's thus far been the worst crash yet this year at the speedway.

Heat 1
- 1st to 70-Saunders, 2nd to 38-Hendricks, 3rd to 24-Richmond

Heat 2
- 1st to 39-McCullough, 2nd to 3 Cox and 3rd to 1-Newman

Feature - Starts with Saunders in the lead, McCullough battling with Hendricks for 2nd, and Richmond in 4th. 57-Brooks is going backwards for some reason, and it just doesn't look like tonight's his night in the Mod.

By the 10th circuit McCullough is strongly in 2nd and pushes the issue with Saunders for 1st. Both he and Saunders end up looped around in 1, and this sends 3rd place Richmond around too. After the caution, this gives 72-Thompson the lead with 3-Cox in 2nd. Cox makes pretty short work of Thompson to take 1st, and then on lap 15, Saunders is around in turn 3 for another caution. Looked at this point like there was a little heat between Cox and Thompson, as Thompson gives Cox a pretty good bumper-shot while under caution.

Now with the field bunched up at the restart, its Cox, Thompson, with 1-Newman and 88-Shipway close behind. The real race is for 3rd as Shippy tries his stuff to get around the Bear, eventually pulling alongside to make the pass on the last lap. Shippy pulls up to Thompson but doesn't have time for much more than a last moment Hail Mary for 2nd, but that's way it stayed.
FINAL - 1st to Cox, 2nd to Thompson, 3rd to Shipway, 4th to Newman and 5th to 54-Limon
----------------------------------------------------------------

Ulimate Sandblasting and Coating Chaos Cars

Well, these guys were certainly chaotic tonight. In attendance were Red Baron, Snot-rod, Bush Bomb, Wednesday, Blue Thunder, and new guy Born Again.

Snot Rod was having trouble early on as something went wrong with a tire that pretty much put him out of contention. Red Baron looked like he was just off in his own little world tonight, many times going around the barrel turns way more times that he had to. The race up front was between Wednesday, Bush Bomb and Blue Thunder. At one point, Wednesday ran out of judgement and just decided to start plowing thru barrels, and the coup de grace was when he hit one more barrel at the stop box that went flying into Sharpie the flagman. (Sharpie was at the stop box and not up in the flagstand.) It looked like he'd actually been injured somewhat. Needless to say, Sharpie was not amused, and Wednesday was sent off the racetrack. The race came down to Bush Bomb and Blue Thunder, and right at the finish line, Blue Thunder was turned into the wall, leaving Bush Bomb the victor.

---------------------------------------------------------

In Closing

All in all it was a great night of racing! (although there may be a couple of chaos drivers who disagree!)

Trucks were particularly breathtaking tonight, and there certainly was a collective "aw crap" coming from the stands when Hosang got put out of the groove at the end of the feature.

Super Stocks were also awesome, and I'm certainly interested to see where we're sitting for points after the evening. Both divisions ran those sorts of races where you just can't decide where to look, lest you miss something. I completely missed what happened at the end of the SS feature that left Lawrence up in the fence, and apparently there was some contact between Lake and Reid that came about as a result of gravel kicked up on the track when Rabideau and Lidster had their battle.

Delaware is in serious need of a jumbo-tron for replays. ;D

So, hang on to your hats folks! Next Friday, promoters Houghton, Houghton and Wilcox are coming at you with yet another action packed card. Friday night we're going to rock and roll with Supermodifieds, a double shot of APC Late Models, and the trucks. Gonna be one wild night, then we'll do it all over again for a Super Saturday with the Supermodifieds, Super Stocks, and our modifieds...which are just super.

As Billy Red used to say: Don't you dare miss it!

;D ;D ;D

Lidster and Cox Extend Point Leads' - Fothergil Takes Over Lead With Win

Jason Lidster admitted that he didn’t have enough time to reel in Jeremiah Rabideau during the Super Stock feature at Delaware Speedway on Friday night, but a yellow flag with three laps to go changed everything.  “I could see that he was starting to get loose,” explained Lidster.  “Our car was still working really good.”

On the restart, Jason, who was tied for the point lead entering the night, started after Rabideau, but couldn’t find a way around until real late in the race.  Coming out of turn two, Lidster struck and dove to the bottom of the Delaware hill.  “I got under him coming out of turn two and had my bumper all the way to his front wheels.  He turned down to block and we went through the grass together.  It’s lucky he didn’t wreck us both.”

Lidster starts the pass for the win

Lidster was able to recover quicker than Rabideau and went on to win the feature.  Lidster, the St. Thomas driver said, “Jeremiah and I talked after and he realized that he just wanted to win so bad, but he shouldn’t have done that either.”

Rabideau pulled out of his four-wheel slide to finish second.

While Lidster was winning the feature and putting his name atop the leaderboard, fellow championship combatant Darrell Lake was mixing it up as well in a physical battle with Jeremy Reid.  On the final restart with Reid third and Lake fourth, contact ensued, as Steven Richmond was able to race through the battle to a third-place finish.

Reid had a bumperful of Lake all night

Steve Smith also go through the scramble to finish fourth, while Lake recovered to finish fifth.

Smith makes a great save

Reid would wind up 17th.

The Open Wheel Modifieds were also in action, and John Saunders jumped out to an early lead.

In heat race action David McCullough was able to walk away from Jamie Cox, easily winning his qualifier, and he was just as fast in the feature.  He was 10 car lengths back of Saunders, and within a couple of laps was to Saunders flank.

As the pair were going into turn one on lap 13, McCullough dove to the bottom and tagged Saunders, spinning both of them, leaving Shawn Thompson out front, with Jamie Cox shuffling his way to second.

Saunders and McCullough a moment after impact

When the field restarted, Cox drove to the outside and he and Thompson were wheel to wheel coming out of turn two.  Cox spoke about the pass, saying, “I had to bury the car in there, and on the restart was my best chance.  I finally cleared him in three, but I was feathering the throttle on the outside.  I just knew I wasn’t going to be able to get him on the inside and that was my best chance.  We touched wheels once, but it was a good race for the lead.”

Cox races fellow championship contenders Shipway and Newman

Cox was able to open up a little real estate on Thompson and finished it off with a win, extending his championship point lead.

Thompson held on to finish second while Paul Shipway and Barry Newman raced from the back of the pack to finish third and fourth.  Darrell Limon rounded out the top-five.

With his win in the truck feature, Paul Fothergil was able to overtake Jeff Showler in the Truck standings for the championship title.

Snotrod Calls his Shot

The Snotrod told Born Again that he would put a little green on the newly constructed red Sunfire.  He would play possum at the start of pit road and waited for Born Again to go by, and then start to make his 360 turn before plowing into Born Again.  The Chaos Car division is really starting to get some of that WWE quality about it.

The only things missing are a driver getting a chance to cut a promo, and someone doing a clean job in the middle.

Thanks for the report Jamie. I'm keen to see what the points look like now, especially Super Stock.

BTW - Maybe just the computer I'm on, but all I'm seeing is red X's. Is it just me?
