305 s are an interesting option i was getting them for free to tear down and  use the blocks for 305 sprints in ohio it really offset our costs.  the idea of enduro was you run the engine that came in the car to save costs but of course we all know that all of those cameros didnt come with engines like some of those guys are running and not all had four barrels so why don't they just say you run an engine that came in the car and give a weight per ci so that maybe that v6 camero is as good as a 350. and yes i am aware that delaware tech would actually have to check this displacement but thats what they are there for.

What about someone like myself then.  I drive the #03 Thunderbird.  The car that year only came in a 4.6 V8.  So I'm stuck with running about 26 sec/lap.  I want to swap out the motor for something w more HP.  I was told no, but its frustrating when others are doing the exact thing.

Exactly my point I'm sure that 4.6 would easily run with a gm 5.0

Thunderbirds came with 302's, and 351's. Now the rules say make model year engine should all meet, but it seems to disappear when you roll a metric through or otherwise (camaro's included). Now I may be shooting myself in the foot here, but I would go with a 302 and gear it so the 'stock' valvetrain doesn't ignite after 5000 RPM. Or take your chances and buy the studs for the rocker arms, and spin it a little quicker.

That 4.6L should be able to produce some good spinning force if you wind id up? What gears you run could help you... just an idea. That car is an 8.8 rear end, there's loads of Ford options in the scrappers in relation to gears... yes??
