Canada’s Top National Touring Stockcar event: The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series invades Delaware Speedway this weekend (June 22-23) for the EMCO 200.  Below is information which may be useful for media outlets attending or covering this major event:

----GENERAL INFORMATION----
- Friday is Emergency Services Appreciation night where members of Police, Fire, and Ambulance services enter free of charge with their immediate family as our way of saying thank-you for all they do in our community.  Along with our local racing divisions, the evening also includes a special King of the Hill All-Out Spectator's Race with a special format for prizing.

- The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series running on Saturday at 8:00 pm.  Delaware's local Truck series will be running earlier in the day at 6:00 pm.  Time trials for the Nascar Canadian Tire Series are at 5:15 pm.  The evening also features a driver meet and greet where fans can meet the drivers and get close to the cars before the event begins.

- Weekend passes and single-day passes are available.  They can be purchased online in advance or at the gate the day of the event.

- On-site camping is available for just $20 for the weekend.

NASCAR Canadian Tire Series At Delaware Speedway
• This is the series’ fourth time to compete on the half-mile oval.
• The average starting position of the winner is 4.33, while the polesitter has an average finish of 11.33.
• The most laps led by a race winner are 130 by D.J. Kennington in 2010 and the fewest is 46 by Don Thomson Jr. last season.
• Two of the three events have gone beyond the 200-lap advertised distance with last year’s EMCO 200 being the exception.
• Eight drivers – Steve Côté, Ray Courtemanche Jr., Noel Dowler, L.P. Dumoulin, Larry Jackson, Martin Roy, Howie Scannell Jr., Mike Scholz – are making their track debut.

Delaware Speedway Race Setup
• D.J. Kennington is a two-time winner at Delaware and has led 293 laps which accounts for over 47 percent of the series total at the track.
• D.J. Kennington has not yet won on the half-mile oval, but has scored five consecutive top-10 finishes at the track.
• Ron Beauchamp Jr. and Kennington are the only two 2012 EMCO 200 entrants with three top-10 finishes at the track.
• Eight drivers on the entry list will be making their track debut in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series action at the event.

Either a proofreading error or someone has never been to a race.

I'm glad they told me it was Canada's TOP National Touring Stock Car series...

....cuz I was getting it confused with all the other National Touring Stock Car Series we have up here.  ;D

Seriously though...you can bet someone just slapped their own forehead. They'll fix it.

It was a simple proof reading error in the Nascar release.  The writer has attended every race at Delaware and does a great job.  I touched base with their team and my understanding it's been corrected.  It's not the first ever error in a motor sports press release and certainly won't be the last.
