hey crash you coming?
I spent the whole night ripping out the heater box and accessing the exhaust system. pictures to come
This suggestion is from a well seasoned veteran in racing all kinds of "stock bodied" race cars
duct tape it...hit it with a hammer, then cut the rest out with a sawzall...5 minutes..I'm glad my dad was a window repairman at work LOL ;D
Glass removal sux that's why I have Harvey White Auto Glass on my hood lol
Ok boys it's been a while but we were hard at it today
This is a CSC cage that I purchased from a wrecked Varney Mini Stock
I would have liked to have purchased brand new but the truth is we just find enough money in the budget so we do what we have to.
The cage being from a Mustang doesnt quite fit so we had to narrow it 2"
The cuts were all sleeved and rewelded
The cage now fits in the car with the roof back on and once we get a racing seat I might fit in the cage 😉
We cut most of the grill out to get better air into the rad, I think keeping it cool might be tough.
As a side note the CSC cage was from a totaled Mustang but amazingly it didn't have any damage which made it a perfect candidate for being recycled into another car. AS you can see this is a garage and driveway build so we truly are kicking it ole' school
i have built many minis like this...when i do this i usually sleeve the 2 halo bars above the driver and top of windshield...and then put new bars across behind the seat and across the dash...i then put new uppers to brace where the sleeves are...great pics, this is the most inexpensive way i think, to build a car...just need to find a good cage to start and that looks like a great one...
just wondering if you mounted it to plates or to 2x2 or some channel...
