They might have considered a motor size limit of 305 cu inches with stock heads. This would have keptthe speeds down and hopefully the costs. Nock the claim down to reasonable number say $400. That will make the "building less of an issue. NO Crate engines, or 350 Vortec allowed period. There are tons of 305's available and cheap too boot
Not saying how it should be done but just how it could be done 😉

You guys all make valid points. And I have to say 900 is steep for a claim rule. Dropping the claim amount will surely quieten a few engines down, and help with that. But again, the guys up front actually have built cars, or tried and true chassis'. A lot of these cars are built with some expensive, and extensive work put into em. All I'm saying is, the suspension setup is not hard to do, and usually costs less then the engine. Start there with your car, ask questions, seat time is huge too. My old third gen firebird, is pretty quick for a loose piece of crap, yet at one point I grabbed a 23.7 out of it. the rookie's fastest time in it is 29.6....... see the diff? And I'm not that great of a driver.

i agree with all of u, i also was a rookie this year i ran a car with no set up all season with a stock 350 my fastest lap i think this year was a 24.3 its all about seat time but they still have keep the costs down to let other drivers have a chance

ya that would definetly even things up with a $400 claim things would definetly change but we ant gonna see that change . if we did i bet you would see alot slower lap times lol for every one that ran up front than its really all about driver and now about  $$$ in the motor anymore. I understand it when guys say its all about the drivng and stuff but thats to a certain point . the problem with the $400 claim is that half the track who has all this money in there motors arnt gonna agree to it then the tracks not gonna change the rules.

you would think it would make it cheap to build competitive cars wich would make you think a more higher car count because the cost is down to build a fair car wich would make you  think higher car counts
