Ok so this metric chassis that McColl just rolled out....is that comparable to what some of Delly's front runners are running, or is this now something completely different?
This is the non-racer part of me coming out - I thought that the "new generation" SS was essentially a CASCAR/sportsman chassis. Am I wrong?
And now this poor guy asking a simple question wanting to go racing had to sort through that sh!t storm and probably got scared away......gotta love the ever evolving rules.
Better he hears it now to figure it out, than when he's got tens of thousands dumped into an obsolete car.
so far sunset is the only place effed right up by the sounds of it, but Delaware listens to the suppliers too much as well, so it could get effed up more shortly i guess. i havent heard much tech wise, might just be minor tweaks (hopefully)..........and just one more thing to add, good cars cant be built cheap if you have good sources for parts and some fabbing skills, atleast at Delaware, id like to see it stay that way. 10's of thousands dont need to be invested depending on his capabilities and good affordable cars pop up for sale, theres a few cars that would be excellent cars with a few updates.

It's whatever magic label you throw on it.
If it servers your purpose to call it the same as the front running cars, then its that.
If it servers your purpose to call it more stock than stock, then its that.
If it serves your purpose to call it a LM... Oh ummm better not do that..
Its the magic supper car to make McColl a shitload of money, ooops I mean make the class "stock" with a fabricated car...
lol...ok. Well I don't actually have a purpose other than conversation and trying to educate myself.
2-3 years ago, at the end of the season, the 33 team trotted out their new Super Stock design with the new fiberglass package. (The red one) One of the guys said to me it was basically a CASCAR chassis and I mentioned that here. (It was making a few of the SS guys nervous at the time, fearing their stuff would be rendered obsolete, so I figured it was worthy of conversation at the time.)
Some of those 33 guys got their undies in a wad so bad about what I said that they hit me up on Facebook and even came up to me (in a less than friendly manner) a couple times at the track. Its all water under the bridge and we're all good now (I think), but I'm curious now just how far off we actually were.
But you know, I'm looking at this "metric" chassis by McColl and it doesn't sound so bad. 3 grand with the cage, 602 crate brings it to 7 and change. Add 9420 as per your calculations earlier in the thread and youre looking at 16 grand brand new, unless I'm missing something.
Still a lot of bread, no BS there, but back before crate motors, competitive SS guys were spending that 20 years ago.
Thoughts?
It's why I got out of Super Stock, and why I seem to be getting out of Truck. The costs are just escalating out of control, and the "guy and a couple of his friends in a 1-car garage" type of teams are finding it very difficult to be competitive. There's a reason there's five or six of us from the Truck class trying to sell our Trucks, and no one is biting. Even offering them for a rock-bottom price isn't helping.
At this point, from what I can see, even Enduro is suffering from a similar problem, and the 4 cylinder class is the only place left you can really pay out of an average guy's pocket anymore.
ABC class racing is the answer.
Very few rules makes almost any fender car legal.
Min weight, and some rules that keep OLM and SLM out of the class.
Group qualifing, 10 cars at a time for 8 laps. No heat races.
Race in the A, B or C feature with cars running similar lap times.
Guys that want to spend money can do so. Guys that want to build their own, great. Found a racecar/truck in a field or back of a barn? Bring it out and turn some laps. V8 Enduro car? Yes sir if it meets safety rules.
Might only be enough cars at the start for an A and B feature. Mid season your running a C main. Year two and D mains are starting to happen.
Full inverts for all features, and double file restarts after you pick high or low around the orange traffic cone.
Your going to have to be a driver regardless of what $$ you spend to get to the front and win because all features are only 20 laps.
The track must be strict on sandbaggers, with cautions thrown and offenders restarting at the back for any lap timed .2 faster than your qualifing time.
ABC Racing. It's the way of the future.
