Thats wierd because I remember it differently. We were standing at the start finish line pit road side waiting to get accross the track. We couldnt tell who won from there. When Dan and Steve pulled up to victory lane we headed up the hill. I could swear John did his poll the audience thing while they checked the vid. Then he announced Steve as the winner, the crowd basically boo'd and I remember turning around to see the look on Dan's face. I felt for him... he been running really well this year and has worked his tail off. Not to say Steve hasnt.... but you know enough is enough.

At the conclusion of the race, the winner was not immediately clear and a video replay was called.  Both cars were called to victory lane.  To my knowledge, no winner was declared at this time.

The video was reviewed a number of times by the official in charge.  We were able to freeze frame it on the moment the drivers crossed the line.  The video was conclusive, and the screen capture is available on delawarespeedway.com as part of the recap article.  With information provided by the CheckeredFlagMedia.com camera, the official was able to declare Robblee the winner.

I returned to the booth where we conducted a crowd poll, prior to revealing the already determined winner - - Steve Robblee.

While a heartbreaker for Dan Prudhomme, especially with so many supporters in house - - it was truly an excellent finish, and will likely stand as the closest of the year, something both drivers should be very proud of.  We only went to video replay twice this year, the other was to determine the winner of a Chaos Car event.

Well then, I offer my humble apologies to everyone, including Steve Robblee and his fans.

I screwed up.

The change has been made to the initial post.
