Even more, that 1-2000 bucks, assuming it was evenly spread throughout a full field, would only be a drop in the bucket needed for a purse...It'd mean more to the trucks/sport stocks, but it'd still only be a 50-dollar spread throughout the field, for only one night's race...

Mobile 1 Lets go back to KOH  days last year and years before.Did they (Delaware ) put out money -NO,Did they draw large crowds-YES,did they draw large fields-YES. Now they are paying for this to the winner by sponsor or not.You think it is okay but your regular card (cars & trucks ) have to spend money to fix their machines .They come to the track and then they have to sit and watch KOH drivers do maybe 4 or 5 rounds to take home $1000.00 or $2000.00 depending on Sponsor. Would you be upset. I think you would.Remember there was no bad talk about KOH until the track went to paying the winner ( Sponsor or not ).There is an easy solution to this. The track goes to the Sponsor who put the money up front for KOH and see if they would like to sponsor a regular race not KOH.A true sponsor
would likely say yes. Does it matter what they would sponsor I would say no.. Answer you still have KOH and the regular race sponsor makes the purse bigger for that class ( Late Model or Modified or Sport Stock or Truck ) for that night. Track still gets big crowd to seeKOH and drivers at the track happy .Remember
there are 4 KOH set a year and there are 4 Divisions
Whether the track would do this I do not know but if they were smart they would look at it.

1) Throne Kings already has sponsorship on two trucks, and Canusa has a TON of sponsorship at the track to begin with. Seeing how successful the KOTH events were, what's not to say that it could lead into a race night sponsorship? Sponsors getting involved in racing need to learn how to crawl before they can walk, and sponsoring the KOTH can be used to build up a relationship between the track and the sponsor, which can later develop into race night sponsorships.
2) By your logic, going to a sponsor who's proposed something and saying "It's not good enough, let's do this" has the potential to go down in flames. Screw that up, and at the end of the day you've got no sponsor at all and a company who won't have anything to do with you in the future. Furthermore, what's to say that either KOTH sponsor would have the funds to sponsor a race night (Maybe Cascarjr52 could shed some light on how much a race sponsorship goes for). Yet again, it's all about working with what you have rather than what you'd like to have.
3) Throwing 1000 bucks at one time for one race is going to help, sure, but in the big picture it's only a drop in the bucket. Again, with the way the track comes up with purse money, using the money for KOTH and packing it to the highway allows for future purse increases and for sponsors to realize advertising potential, and keep them involved long-term, rather than a one-time shot of 50 bucks per car...

Mobil 1 you are saying reply #37.You are forKOH drivers and not the regular show drivers. By the way I am using the $1000.00 & $2000.00 purse as what the sponsor has offered this year. You donot want to understand that the TRACK WINS & REGULAR DRIVERS WIN and KOH drivers happy they can race.and o yes throwing $1000.00 - $2000.00 into the division purse that night is a big thing as your regular drivers for that division get extra $
which makes them happy.Your logic that a sponsor is going to say good bye.If they (Sponsor ) are serious about racing about it they will listen & work with the track
P.S. By the way you did not mention that KOH got no $ before-True ,Track got large crowds-Yes, Large Fields -Yes

Seriously, where the hell did that come from? I'm not for or against either side here, nor am I even trying to pick a side. All I'm saying is that it's bad form for someone, when receiving purse money for something like that, to say "Thanks, but I'm not going to spend it like you suggested and I'm going to use it my way." That's how sponsors get aggravated ("True sponsors" or not) and don't come back. I'm not suggesting that it's an automatic process, but operating like that doesn't help turn new sponsors into the "true" sponsors you want them to be.

If you want to go back over the past few seasons, the KOTH car and fan counts have fluctuated over the course of seasons. Depending on the weather, car counts fluctuated anywhere from 35-45 cars per events. I don't think you'd argue that the KOTH events this season haven't seen more people attending than in seasons past, either. If you can use something like this to boost the fan counts in April-May when the weather isn't as warm, it'll help bring revenue into the track, which in turn guarantees the ability to maintain payouts across all classes and gives more options as to higher-paying events later on.

Once again, 1000 or 2000 bucks thrown even to one division for one race simply isn't going to make much of a difference. I'm not saying it won't have some impact, but if you spread it evenly across all finishing positions, it only adds up to approximately 20 dollars/spot (assuming a 20-car field). If you take that same amount and spread it across 3 divisions on one night, it'd be around 7 dollars/spot. It makes an impact, sure, but over the course of a season, an extra one-time shot of 20 bucks won't make that big of one. I'd agree with you that having sponsors for specific races would be a good idea, and that increasing purses across the board for 2008 should be a priority, but at the expense of losing the hype, increased fan counts/car counts and sponsor return gained from the current format of the KOTH events it isn't necessarily worth it.
