would s10 spindles work also? are they big bearing?

s10 spindles are the same as metrics aren't they? We put the camaro spindles on because of the height difference and the bigger brakes (and we usually have piles of them laying around lol).

hey jamie, i heard the later impala/caprice spindles are decent too.  the newer ones having larger outer bearings than their '77 and prior counterparts.

..that depends...

There were a lot of special Caprice (Classic) versions of spindles and bearings and it depends on what your defining as new and old variants...

Check out http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php for all the different types.

Police Specials, Engine, etc, determine what bearing sizes go with what spindle...

The ones I've shown here as examples are all Caprice Classic's with SBC 350 / 5.7L

For a 1979 to 1995 Caprice:

SKF Part # BR6 Cup length=.4650"; Width=.625"; Standout=.1600"; Outside diameter=2.3280"; Inside diameter=1.2500"; Cup radius=.0500"; Cone length=.6600IN
  Front Inner

SKF Part # BR3  Cone radius=.0500"; Width=.690"; Standout=.1400"; Outside diameter=1.9687"; Inside diameter=.8437"; Cup radius=.0500"; Cup length=.5500"; Cone length=.7200IN
  Front Outer

For a 1970 to 1975 Caprice:

SKF Part # BR3  {Click Info Link for Alternate/OEM Part Numbers} Cone radius=.0500"; Width=.690"; Standout=.1400"; Outside diameter=1.9687"; Inside diameter=.8437"; Cup radius=.0500"; Cup length=.5500"; Cone length=.7200IN
  Front Outer

SKF Part # BR5  {Click Info Link for Alternate/OEM Part Numbers} Width=.710"; Standout=.1600"; Outside diameter=2.5630"; Inside diameter=1.3750"; Cup radius=.0500"; Cup length=.5500"; Cone radius=.1400"; Cone length=.7200IN
  Front Inner

Believe it or not, there are manufactures still making this stuff new. As I understand it, Astro and most Caprice Classic Spindles are based on a "GM 2" design with 8 1/2" height.
