Hey Jim
Must use a tranny for the 2.3 or if you find one for a 5.0 you have to change the pilot busing, the 5.0 shaft is a little bigger only at the input, also the gearing in a v8 tranny is a little different, i would try and find a 4cyl one!
i have used a 2.3 tranny behind a 5.0 with a home made bushing, worked great for years!
