Sponsors are very hard to obtain. I haven't bothered this year, because I run such a minimal cost. Usually if you have some family that has a small business, ask them. People you work with so on, so forth. If you are a rookie, build your car, run it, get seat time and some finishes under your belt. Very hard to ask people for cash, when you are parked 2/3 of a race. If they gave you cash, expect none next season.

If you get a sponsor, reward them. Take the car to their business, or display it. I'm loosely sponsored by a bar, and take the car there generally after every race. I have a beer for free, then take it home. I bought the owner of the bar a few small gifts (sports tickets) as a thank you, and he's asking "how much you need" for next season.

Well, I may as well update this thread. I have had conversations with many racers, and feel I need to speak on this smaller engine/car deal. There are many guys who feel I do not like the faster cars.... wrong. I love them, and most of you who know me will agree to that. I have more money invested in crazy fast things than you can count. Where I did not invest it, was my Enduro ride. I have spoken with many of the faster guys, and they feel like they are thrown against more walls. You are right, the faster guys are. I agree with one faster gent's comment about making your car faster, work on it (spend the money), invest time in your driving, and you will catch up. He is absolutely right, and I couldn't agree more. Why do I feel we need to expand into the smaller cars? Simple, there very few chassis' left, and some guy would like to be rewarded for just having fun. This is not say reward humdrum building/driving skills (mediocrity from one driver, and I agree). Remove the Dawg Pound idea, and race a couple divisions at once. Let them race for their larger purses, and allow the other guys to have fun as well. Remember, you are the Kings of the Cheap Seat racing, and you are complaining because it's supposed to be budget racing.

I feel like I am stirring the pot for an argument, but actually the opposite. I for one, do not care if you are faster. Most of the guys complaining, have never placed higher then 25th (from who I have talked to). I will say, I have worried about safety for our fellow drivers. An unsafe car hitting the walls hard can be fatal, but I have never spoke down about the speed. Only old belts, and guys going too fast in cars ill prepared.

If I haven't talked to you, then you probably haven't complained, or voiced yourself. I am an advocate for this class, and do not want to see it die off. I really do not wish to see it become a Friday night invitational thing because there just isn't enough drivers.
