4 Cyl. Enduro

Hello gentlemen, here's a new twist/suggestion on the 4cyl Enduro idea. Any input would be greatly needed, and used. As we see on other forum threads, the car/chassis availability has been rising. Many frown upon this idea, and feel it is not viable. I devised a plan that may work, and with your help we can hopefully give Delaware a good idea. Time is also an issue, as for the tracks scheduling, so combining it with same race events would work.

On Enduro only days, run a 4cyl. Enduro, 2 heats 8-10 laps, with a 25 lap feature. Then run the reg Enduro heats and feature (switch them up if you like in running order). After the 4cylinders have run (if car is safe for V8 comp) let them run with the reg runs.

Make the 25 lap payouts good, but not crazy. Add points for leading a lap/wins most laps led, possibly have a contingency sponsor throw in a few gift cards or swag for said achievement. It's an idea, and if you have any input positive or negative please throw it in. I am however, throwing this in for next season.

well, imo you would have to have about30-40 cars just to make it worth watching....even then, the fun of an enduro is watching a ridiculus number of cars on the track bang and kick the crap out of each other for 150+ laps! It sounds like you just wanna have a 4cyl class of racing which is fine but imo in very small demand!
I dont think the entertainment value is there as a competitor or as a fan! It is nice to see some 4cyl in the enduro, and maybe if 20+ more build cars and keep them together for a season or 2 then it "might " start a 4 cyl trend which could possibly leed to what you are thinking of!

MY whole point is even if you were able to get 10 cars for next year to even try this, put them on the track for 25 laps and then watch them do 28 sec+ laps snooze fest.....throw in a barrel turn and some pile ons and its chaos cars!

You are right, but you would be surprised at the fact when my Honda was first ran (completely stock zero camber) last year's Nationals, it ran 24.70. The car has slowed from lack of repair (my own fault really). Now it is getting a refresh, and hopefully ready for our last run.

Car count will go up if incentive is there. A lot of guys do not want to lose to Camaro's non stop, so it brings in the competition factor. I find the car very boring to drive, but the kids I have driving it... are learning for next season. We already have 4/6cyl. bonuses in place, but these are just not enough. I guess I'm tired of having one of the few that does run.

IMO Delaware is too big to run 4's especially if as you say 24 sec laps are possible. The cars are too light and there would be multiple incidents of roll overs during accidents. If a separate 4 cyl division was to be done at Delaware a 'bus stop' would have to be created on the backstretch to slow the cars down or a different and slightly larger 'road course' would have to be made or a 1/3 or 1/4 mile oval inside the 1/2 mile. That being said you mentioned the 4 and 6 bonuses are there but not big enough. Fair statement but what about this idea. Instead of a separate division have the Enduro be like Grand Am with three differnet divisions running at the same time. You have four winners every race (three actually but four trophies). Overall and first in 8's, 6's, and 4's with descending payouts and points accordingly. This way you get more cars on the track at the same time, 4's and 6's don't have to try and beat the 8's to win, and with more cars the speeds of everyone would slow a bit making it safer if a big old boat hits one of the little cars. Also let's say the 8's have a lot of cars and the guys who just can't get hooked up to win in the 8's division move into the 6's or the 4's to try and win in those divisions. This would help to get more 6's and 4's on the track, which is what Delaware wants, and give everyone a chance of 'winning'.

Ernie's right, these cars need to be prepped right, to eliminate the bus stops or slowing ideas. I have V6 cars easily capable of doing sub 24's possibly in the works, but safety comes into play. There are ways to make these cars safe. If I need to make some prototypes, I will. Guaranteed, I can make them safe enough for anyone for little cost. Also, pound for pound, my Honda is stronger then some of the regular Enduro cars. It has taken some serious hits, and has kept right on running.
