Dave Bissonnette dominates initial Ultimate Pro-Stock Series race at Cornwall Motor Speedway!
Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, June 19, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – A very hot night greeted the fans of Propane Levac night as the first round of the Ultimate Pro-Stock Series as well as the Danny Lefebvre Memorial 25 and a complete race program.
George Renaud was the early leader in the initial race of the Ultimate Pro-Stock Series as Rock Aubin and Dave Bissonnette were in the top 3. Bissonnette used the high groove and took the lead over Renaud. While Bissonnette was running in front, Aubin moved to second with Stéphane Lemire in third with 15 laps in the books. Bissonnette was pulling away from the field as Lemire was second with Jocelyn Roy in third at the halfway point. Bissonnette was working the inside lane while a great battle was going for second as Aubin and Roy were in the mix with 10 laps to go. Bissonnette led the final lap to capture the initial race of the Ultimate Pro-Stock Series.
Zach Aubertine led the way in the 30-lap Bandit Motorsports but he got passed by Lance Willix on a lap 2 restart. Willix had a good lead with Gage Morin pushing his #16 machine to the limit and grabbed second as Kyle Dingwall slowed the field down on lap 9. Willix kept his first position as Danny Johnson went through the field and was in the top 5 with a dozen laps to go. Willix led the final portion and wins a rare race at Cornwall over Gage Morin and Aubertine completes the podium.
Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty rookie contender Derek Cryderman took the lead in the 25-lap affair with Thomas Cook in second. Cryderman set the pace as he had a good lead over Cook as Ryan Stabler was now in third with 15 laps completed. Stabler was on the move as got by Cryderman in lap traffic with only 3 laps to go and got his first win of in his career over Cryderman and Scott McGill.
Two accidents highlighted the start of the Danny Memorial Mini-Stock 25 event as Mike Gaucher and Bob Ray exchanged the lead for the first portion of the race as Marc Dagenais was running in third. Gaucher had issues on lap 10 giving is second spot away. Ray remained in first for the rest of the feature to capture his third win of the season over Teddy Baird and Dagenais stayed in third to complete the podium.
The Polar Sound DJ Services Novice Sportsman saw Dudes Thompson taking the lead over Greg Ezard and Junior Delormier. A lap 3 restart was good for Ezard as he went to the front of the field with Delormier close to him. Delormier used the inside lane to grab the first spot on lap 6. Delormier never looked back and grabbed his second feature of the season.
One of the biggest event of the season is on tap next Sunday as the Super DIRTcar Big Block Series will be in Cornwall for a 100-lap event along with a complete race program as the Pro-Stock will have a night off being busy with series races up in Quebec.
