Chris Raabe won his first feature of the season at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, June 12, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – A complete race program was presented at the Cornwall Motor Speedway on Lamoureux Pumping night as the Eastern Ontario Vintage Club was on hand as the Mini-Stock had a night off.

After two unsuccessful attempts, Gage Morin took the lead in the 30-lap Modified Feature as Roger Levesque and Tim O’Brien were running in the top 3. Joey Ladouceur was now in second as he passed Levesque on lap 9. A lap 14 restart saw Chris Raabe move up to second and challenged Morin for the lead as some smoke started to show on the #16 mount of Morin. The powerplant of Morin let up on lap 19 as he was in battle with Raabe for the lead. Raabe led the final portion of the race and capture his first win of the season at Cornwall over Joel Doiron and Carey Terrance.

A fine field of 24 cars started the 25-lap Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman feature as Brian Comeau was the early leader over Billy Cook and Gabriel Cyr. Cook and Cyr went into a great battle as Louie Jackson was now in the mix. Jackson made some great moves and took the lead on lap 19. Jackson leads the final laps to win his first event of the season.

Riley McMonagle led the first two laps of the Alexandra Home Hardware as Claude Parisien slowed in turn 4. Ghislain Valade took the lead from McMonagle as Marc Lalonde moved up to second.  Some great battles for the lead at the halfway point as Stephane Lebrun was leading the way but Valade came back to the charge and took the lead. A lap car came in the way of Valade and Rock Aubin was the leader. Valade came back to challenge the leader but Aubin remained in first and got his second event of the season.

The Eastern Ontario Vintage Club had the honor to be the first feature of the night with a 15-lap event. Denzil Billings jr took the lead over Steve Lackie. Peter Stapper and Paul Billings got together with 3 laps in the books. Lackie took the lead on lap 5 but veteran runner Steve Arbuthnot passed him at halfway point. Arbuthnot never looked back to capture the win.

Dudes Thompson led all 15 laps in the Polar Sound DJ Services and won his first feature in this division in front of Chris Zieren and Fred Andje.

A great show next week as the Ultimate Pro-Stock Series will be in town for a 50-lap event as well as the second edition of the Danny Lefebvre Memorial along with a complete show for the other divisions.
