Chris Herbison wins ends in drought at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, May 24, 2015 – Martin Bélanger – The Cornwall Motor Speedway was back in action on Vertical Equipment Night with a full program in a five regular divisions. It was also banner night for kids during intermission time.

Brian McDonald led the way in the 30-lap Bandit Motorsports Modified feature with Chris Herbison in second and Gabriel Richer running strong in third. The first caution came on lap 14 for Lee Ladouceur. Herbison was able to grab the lead for 1 lap as McDonald regained the top spot as Chris Raabe was running up in third passing Richer with less than 10 laps to go. Herbison used the inside lane and passed McDonald with 27 laps completed. Herbison won his first feature win in 2015 over Raabe and Gabriel Richer rounded out the top 3.

The Wheeler-Forget 20-lap Sportsman feature was the last to take the track as Emmanuel St-Denis taking the lead over the field of 27 cars. St-Denis had company with Brianna Ladouceur in second and Robert Delormier in third. St-Denis ran hard in front as the feature pick up a good momentum. Gabriel Cyr brought the caution with 4 laps to go. Ladouceur was able to pass St-Denis on the restart and led the final 4 laps to win her first feature in Cornwall over St-Denis and Corey Wheeler.

In the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock 20-lap feature, Kevin Fetterly was able to resist charges while running in first, Fetterly ran the first 9 laps in first. A caution helped Dave Bissonnette take the lead on a restart just before the halfway point with Stephane Lebrun now in second. The Gatineau resident was strong in the inside lane taking the lead with 5 to go, Lebrun led the final laps to win his first event of the season.

In the 15-lap Polar Sound DJ Semi-Pro, Adam Delormier and Richard Lalonde swapped the lead in the first 2 laps with Delormier finally pulling away from Lalonde as Nico Leblanc made his way up to third with 2 laps to go. Delormier resisted a final caution to win his first feature of the season over Leblanc and Lalonde

Chris James led the way in the 12-lap Polar Sound DJ Mini-Stock division, James had company in Dudes Thompson in second and Marc Dagenais in third. Thompson and Dagenais had a good battle for second at the halfway point as they were on the backbumper of the leader. Dagenais was able to grab the lead with 3 laps to go as James faded to fourth. Dagenais led the final laps to win his second feature of 2015 in front of Thompson and JF Page.

Next week, Cornwall will have another full show with the visit of the SpeedSTR Series as the Semi-Pro division will get a night off.
