Billy Dunn dominates 3rd round of Bandit Motorsports Canadian Nationals at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, August 2, 2015 – Martin Bélanger – One of the biggest nights of the year was presented this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway with a 150-lap event counting for the Bandit Motorsports Canadian Nationals, it was the longest event present in this series. The Go Nuclear Late Models, Sportsman, Semi-Pro and Mini-Stock were also be on the schedule presented by Archers Poultry and Bank on Montreal.

In the 150-lap Bandit Motorsports Canadian Nationals feature, Alain Boisvert was the early leader over Luke Whitteker and Mario Clair. Caution was out on lap 6 for Roy Delormier. On the restart, Alain Boisvert still in the lead as they quickly got to lap traffic, Boisvert got caught behind a slower car and Luke Whitteker was the new leader. Whitteker lost the lead to Clair on lap 24. Several position changes in the following laps as Carey Terrance and Danny Johnson were now the top 3 with caution occurring with lap 31. On the green lights, Clair and Terrance ran side by side for a few laps with yellow back out for Mathieu Boisvert. Clair in the lead as Terrance made a charge and passed Clair for the lead but Clair was able to regain the lead following a lap 51 restart with Billy Dunn now in third. Using the high lane, Dunn passed Clair and Terrance and took the lead on lap 57. Dunn pulled away from the field with Danny Johnson and Lance Willix running the top 5 with 65 laps completed. Dunn continued to extend his lead over Terrance at the halfway point with Johnson, Clair and Willix the top 5. The leaders made their way in heavy traffic as Danny O’Brien cracked the top 5 with 60 laps to go. Caution occurred on lap 96, with an accident involving several cars. Dunn led the way on the restart with Johnson and Terrance. With 125 laps completed, Danny O’Brien is able to take third from Danny Johnson. Dunn was dominating the last portion when a caution happened with only 1 lap to go. Dunn led the green-white-checker and won his second consecutive series feature over Terrance and O’Brien completed the top 3.

Louie Jackson was the early leader in the 25-lap Wheeler-Forget Royal Lepage Sportsman but Tyler Givogue charged from the inside lane and was able to take the lead with 4 laps completed. Givogue and Jackson were in a side by side battle as both drivers exchanged the lead as Tristan Draper was running in third. Givogue was able to get in front of Jackson with less than 10 laps to go. Givogue resisted a late caution and won his first feature in Cornwall over Jackson and Draper.

Dale Caswell was the early leader in the 30-lap Go Nuclear Late Model Series over Tyler Rand and Greg Belyea. Caswell the leader resisting a few early caution as Belyea running the high side well with Lee Gill moving up to third with a dozen laps in. As the leader were in lap traffic, Gill made a slide job to take second on Belyea. Caswell had Gill on his back bumper with less than 10 laps to go. Using the high lane, Gill took the lead on lap 24.  Yellow flag was out with only 2 laps to go. Gill got a good jump and got the win over Belyea and Caswell.

A great field of 19 cars took the initial green in the 12-lap Polar Sound DJ Services, Mike Gaucher led all the laps in the feature but has to resists charges from JF Pagé and Marc Dagenais. Gaucher wins a second feature this season over Bob Ray and Corbin Millar who cames from its 15th place starting spot.

In the 15-lap DJ Polar Sounds DJ Services, Patrick Lalonde led the last portion of the feature and won his first feature in his career in front of Adam Delormier and Richard Brady.

Another big event next week with the final round of the Bandit Motorsports Sportsman Challenge with two 50-lap event as we will have a complete race program in all other divisions along with a Dash for Cash for the Pro-Stock division.
