Unfortunately the hype about the visiting cars was just type. The 14 starters for the $5000 to win 100 lap LM race included 1 out of town LM, 2 locals who run LLM at Kawartha and a road racer trying ovals for the first time in an old cascar sportsman.
That being said when the top five are running nose to tail it makes for an exciting race. Waste Management who sponsored the monster jam II could be happy that Sean Kennedy took the early lead but the handle went away.As usual Steve Munro showed he can race by taking to the outside to eventually take the lead. Unfortunately cautions kept letting track champion Ricky Rump up beside him but each time Steve pulled ahead. Now Spencer Mcpherson was involved in an incident and went to the pits during a caution. Given the pit setup cars are allowed 2 grace laps to return to the track and maintain position on the lead lap at the rear. So Spencer had nothing to lose in position but now one assumes he has new rubber. Getting up to third puts him behind Munro on the restart. With Rump on old tires Spencer  is able to take second, but can he pass Steve? Well he never attempted to go on the outside. Instead, on the white flag lap, he punts Steve right between turns 3 and 4, causing Steve to careen into the infield, crossing the start finish behind Mcpherson and Rump.

Norm Mayhew (46) from Kawartha.
LLM were local racers Dave Waite and Bruce Baldock who run the LLMs at Kawartha.
Also Jacob McGrath of Vermont drove the locally owned 88 of Al Dickie.

Capital City put on a great show. Too bad the fans were cheated at the end by some real butthead driving. Everyone who was there could see that it was no accident. It was a deliberate attempt to spin Munro out. Munro certainly sees it that way. He says so on his website. From what he wrote in the news section of CCS website I don't think Arnie Malcolm is too impressed. Going by their messages the fans sure aren't. I do not know if the checkered should have gone to Munro or Rick Rump but they should have disqualified MacPherson. I've always thought MacPherson was a good kid. I understand getting worked up in the heat of battle. He cannot change what happened. But if you screw up, you stand up, you own up, and you apologize. Still nothing but silence from MacPherson although he has seen comments on his website forum. If someone is telling this kid to do nothing and it will all blow over they are giving him REALLY bad advice. This is the kind of thing that changes the way people see a driver. If they think he is a jerk it can stick with him a long time and harm his prospects. Nobody wants to sponsor someone who makes them look bad. The kid should apologize NOW. If only for his own sake.

havent you learned by now watching all the top series that knocking someone out of the way for the win is perfectly acceptable and done on short tracks everywhere ,its what the newest generation of drivers has learned over recent years!
