Jamie Collard Leads Wire to Wire in his First Visit of the Season for the SOS

The dedicated fans and drivers of Brighton Speedway waited with baited
breath throughout the day for clear skies to blow in.  When the gates opened
they poured into their spots and got set for another exhilarating night of
dirt track racing.  Rapid Rad and Star 93.3 presented the Southern Ontario
Sprints, the Vanderlaan Building Supplies Pro Late Models, the Bainer's
Radiators Canadian Modifieds, the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks and the
Bill's Johns Comp 4's.  With five classes on the race card the night was
predetermined to be awesome as over 85 cars hit the 1/3rd mile clay oval.

The action started hot in the first in the Pro Stock race, with fierce
competition between the top 6 cars.  The fans were anxious to see how Doug
Anderson (72) and Brandon Gregory (01) would make their way from their
starting spots deep in the field.  By halfway Anderson would lead followed
by Gregory and last week's feature winner Gary Vandertoorn (8), Jay O'Hara
(83), Adam Whaley (12) and Mike Lucas (74) battled it out.  Just like when
it looked Anderson was set for his 5th feature win his luck would change
breaking a rear axle leaving the lead to Gregory.  On the Restart Gregory
and Vandertoorn would battle it out but Gregory would maintain his advantage
and go on for the feature win.  Vandertoorn was second with O'Hara third.

The Southern Ontario Sprint Car feature was up next and with great track
condition fans were in for a treat of fast paced open wheel action as (7x)
Jamie Collard and (07x) Dain Naida would lead them to the green.  Collard
would jump out to the early lead and wouldn't look back.  Both the (42) Rick
"the Joyceville Jet" Wilson and (0) Glen "the Ohsweken Flyer" Styres would
make their way through the field and try to catch Collard and Naida until
Wilson broke the motor on lap 9.  A small rash of yellows would follow
Wilson's caution slowing the race giving both Naida and Styres a number of
shots to close up on Collard and race side by side with Collard down low and
Naida taking the long way around the top side.  However on the final restart
on laps 13 Collard would check out leaving Naida and Styres to chase their
team mate but to no luck as Collard would cross the line first on lap 20 for
the wire to wire win in his first visit to Brighton Speedway for 2011.

Other winners on the night included Corey Earl in his Hotch's Auto Parts #11
taking home his first win of 2011 Vanderlaan's Late Models season holding of
(57) Charlie Sandercock and (25) Greg Belyea.  Zeke McKeown would also pick
up his first win in the Dave MacDonald Racing #19 during the Bainer's
Radiator Canadian Modifieds.  Mark Packer picked up his second win of the
season in the Bill's Johns Comp 4 feature.

The racing action at Brighton Speedway is only getting better! Be here on
Saturday, August 13th as Dekeyser Excavating presents the Hot Summer Nights
BBQ Party featuring live music from Jim Ingram and Rusty Zipper plus a great
BBQ deal with a Beer and Burger at Harry's Place for only $5.00 from 5:30
till 7:30pm.  Dekeyser Excavating will present their 3rd Annual Excavator
Olympics with something new to add to the show to thrill the fans.  Racing
on the track will be the Vanderlaan Building Supplies Pro Late Models,
Bainer's Radiators Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks and
the Bill's Johns Comp 4's.  The Late Model Mechanics Race and Brighton
Automotive Fan Appreciation will round out this busy night, so don't miss
out.
