Hennessy, Handley and Gregory Beat the Heat!
May 30, 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
With the sun beating down on the 1/3rd mile clay oval, fans, drivers, crews and staff were ready to enjoy another fast paced night of dirt track action. Town and Country Plumbing of Bayside were impressed by the crowds of people who came out to see the night’s program. A short delay to the beginning of the night for additional track preparation couldn’t hold back the drivers as they anxiously hit the track when the first green flag flew. With the addition of the Bainer’s Radiators Canadian Modified Dash for Cash at the end of the night, six features were set to roll.
The Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks were the first feature of the night and it was another duel fought out by Trenton’s #72 Doug Anderson and Picton’s #91 Kraig Handley. The same as the week before the duel battled through lapped traffic however this time Handley was able to keep Anderson behind him coming to the checker flag with the Schonauer brothers Mike and Matt coming to the line 3rd and 4th and Jamie Marshall rounding out the top 5.
The Vanderlaan Building supplies DIRTcar Pro Late Models were back for round 2 of their schedule and on the line was an additional $100.00 generously donated by Humber Nurseries. Andrew Hennessy of Picton was able to better his last week’s 2nd place finish by one spot coming out on top of the field. The slick track gave the drivers their hands full in the caution filled race. In the end #57 Charlie Sandercock and #77 Caley Weese would round out the top three positions.
The Bill’s Johns Comp 4 division provided some of the most excitement of the night with lots of passing and a spectacular roll over on the front stretch by #32 Terry Hough. Terry left the crowd holding their breath but emerged from his car unharmed as his very well built Honda CRX with stood the multiple flips in mid air! After the restart last week’s winner #01 Brandon Gregory from Trenton was able to overtake the number #10 Travis McLean also from Trenton for the lead and went on to win for the second week in a row and claim the title of Campbellford Chrysler Driver of the Week. During post race inspections Mclean was found with to much wheel camber moving the #66 Mark Packer into 2nd and #8 Zac Mcbride into 3rd.
Kyle Sopaz and his co-rider won the Gords Water Mini Van Race while the number 775 took home the honors in the Motorsports of Trenton Flat Track 4-Wheelers and Dan Ferguson won the Dash for Cash in the last minute addition to the schedule for the Bainer’s Radiators Canadian Modifieds.
Up next week Fan Appreciation is back! Fans young and old will are allowed right down on the track to meet and great there favorite drivers, get up close and personal to all the race cars and get autographs as Dibbit’s Excavating presents Fan Appreciation night and the Figure 8 race! Also on the entertainment card will be the Canadian Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Comp 4 and the Quinte Towing stingers are back. Gates open at 5:30 and racing starts at 7pm. OK I have a question here. Why is there two people in the Vans. OK I know one is the driver and the other is navigating and calling instructions turn left turn left turn left turn left ???
Also the number 11's boss will not be happy when he see's the work van on Monday. 😮
Looks like a lot of fun.
