Adecco Summer Smash Monster Truck Extravaganza presented by Owasco RV This Saturday at Brighton Speedway

By Clayton Johns

BRIGHTON (July 20, 2015) – Monster Trucks return to Brighton Speedway this Saturday for the Adecco Summer Smash Monster Truck Extravaganza presented by Owasco RV. Monster trucks Aftershock and Krazy Train will be at the speedway to showcase their amazing size, power, and speed while destroying some cars courtesy of Brighton Recycling.

Both Aftershock and Krazy Train are custom painted Chevrolet Silverado bodies with 1500 horsepower engines and massive Goodyear tires. The drivers will put on freestyle and jump competitions for the sure-to-be capacity crowd. Fans should arrive early to see the trucks up close and in person.

A full night of stock car racing is also on the schedule for the Vanderlaan Building Products RUSH Pro Late Models, Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, and Bill’s Johns Comp 4s.

Earl Gaining Ground on Sandercock

Corey Earl closed the gap on Charlie Sandercock in the RUSH Pro Late Model point standings with a second-place finish last week. The gap sits at just 90 points now after Sandercock’s sub driver Tim Kerr finished 16th following a flat tire in the middle of the race. Sandercock will be back in the saddle this week for the second race of the inaugural Hotch’s Auto Parts RUSH Pro Late Model Triple Crown.

Phil Potts debuted a new racecar last week and hopes it will be the golden shovel to dig him out of a 140-point hole. Potts is just 20 points ahead of Steve Baldwin for third and Kyle Sopaz has climbed back in to the top-five on the strength of his second win of the season last Saturday night.

Ferguson Grows Canadian Mod Point Lead

On the heals of arguably the division’s best race of the season, Dan Ferguson’s point lead in the Canadian Modified division grew to 60 points this weekend. Ferguson narrowly edged Andrew Hennessy by 0.077 seconds to earn the victory last Saturday and became the first driver to win three times.

After a couple of close top-three finishes, Hennessy is hungry to get a win to close out the month of July. Equally as hungry is Doug O’Blenis. The Napanee, Ont. driver has gotten all of his bad luck at once and a pair of wrecks have put him 195 points off the division lead. O’Blenis could certainly use a little medicine in the form of a trip to victory lane. Curtis King and Mike Lucas complete the current top-five.

Ramsay Is Rolling

After another dominating performance last week, it’s hard to imagine Justin Ramsay finishing anywhere but first. Ramsay has won four of the last five Pro Stock races to take a 220-point lead over Doug Anderson. That doesn’t mean the point chase is over, however. Anderson’s deficit came as the result of one mechanical failure on July 4 in the double-point night mid-season championship. While Ramsay’s team will surely double check all the bolts on the No.03 the rest of the year, there’s lots of time left for anything to happen.

Wade Purchase and Jamie Marshall have flown under the radar this season, but have been two of the track’s most consistent drivers. Purchase scored a victory back on May 9 and Marshall has racked up six top-fives in nine starts.

Dirty Fast Dominance

The Dirty Fast Racing team has won all but one feature race in Comp 4 action so far this season. Shelby Mills continued the trend last Saturday night with here second win of the season, increasing her point lead to 40 notches over teammate Tyler French, who has five wins of his own.

Austin Reid, who has been on the cusp of victory several times this year, is just 80 points back of the lead. Emily Weedman sits fourth in the standings while Brady Greer, the only other driver to win this season, is fifth.
