What is going on with the new owners

Having just gotten home from the track, it makes me wonder if Barrie Speedway will make it through the year with any drivers. I saw one driver grab another driver by the throat be pulled away by one of the new owners and not be penalized on the spot for the contact.  I found out later that the first driver works for the owners at Rama Moccasin.   Then after the Late Model feature was over I heard the same owner tell a Late Model driver that he doesn't care if the he leaves. I thought the owners would be happy to have any drivers stay and "race" there, but after watching them tonight I don't believe that they want any cars other than the ones they sponsored last year to stay.

This poster is an obvious "SHILL" (google the word if you don't know what it means).

Probably someone who doesn't even go to BSW but heard about it through the grapevine.

We have been going to BSW off and on this year and there is some great things happening with the new owners (not just noticed by us but other former regulars). So congrats to the owners on your efforts!

In regards to the original comment, Barrie Speedway has survived through a lot more than a couple of hot heads from one division grabbing at each other while in another, drivers are running over each others equipment and wrecking for no reason. Yes, maybe there should have been some suspensions and black flags, but a decision was made, right or wrong, and that was more than was happening before.
The new owners inherited a mess and are doing an outstanding job of turning the facility back into a place to go with family and enjoy racing. They will, given time get car counts back up and without kissing any butt. Drivers and spectators will again be able to go to a local track, watch and be involved in competitive racing and enjoy themselves.
Keep it up Rick and DI.

On a lighter note, am I the only one left wondering what the hell Luke could possibly hide behind??LOL And j/k big fella just trying to lighten the mood a bit.. 😉 I agree 100 percent with your prior posting about waiting a week to "discuss" any on track race issues.. I know some are gonna say they feel like getting matters taken care of right away out of respect, but from what I've witnessed that doesnt usually work out too sucessfully when dealing with hot tempered race car drivers!!  😉

As for the 55 of Goggins, yes he did apologize publicly over the mic to you Luke after the events of a couple weeks ago.. Pretty classy move by the rookie, who seems to be getting better week to week.. I think Shawn still has a tendancy to overdrive the corners a bit and same applies for the 34 of Marquardt, but those guys are both making strides and at least trying to be smoother through the corners and the results are starting to show.. The 34 TC has had some of his best runs these last two weeks and seems to be really focusing on getting faster and keeping his nose clean.. Way to go Pistol Pete!!

As for the owners, I concurr Rick and Di have been awesome. They have put the fun back into racing for me personally, as towards the end of last season I was convinced to take a summer or two away from the track and do some other things.. Looking back I'm sure glad I didnt take that road, would miss the great folks at BSW too much.. Rick and Di have also instituted many, many great promotions, new advertizing ideas, and prize giveaways for fans and drivers alike.. They really seem to care about everyone that atttends their track, and I personally saw great concerns from them over the events of this past Sat evening from them as it related to the Belesky/Murray deal.. This included huddling several of the track officials for a bit of a meeting to likely see what had exactly went on and discuss what possible preventative measures can be taken to keep drivers happy and fairness on track, as well as drama from breaking out pitside post race.. To suggest they dont care about Barrie racers is simply ludicrous, but I will consider the source!!

Also a great gesture with the special Mid Season trophy for the point leaders heading into last night.. Those trophies looked great and would be a nice add on to any collection.. Again they went above and beyond for Barrie cars in that regard.. And congrats to Ron, Jimmy, and Travis for adding their names into the record books of Barrie Mid Season champs..

Back to the Belesky/Murray deal.. While I didnt witness it personally, I'm glad to hear it got resolved as like I stated it was a racing deal and in my opinion the correct call was made with both sent arrears as "involved cars".. Sorry to hear what broke out post race, as both guys are close friends of mine and equally class acts.. Would be sorry to see Brian leave as he's looked really good in just 3 or 4 weeks of competition, and his lap times are right with the leaders at sub 16 seconds as I recorded them throughout the heat races. I know Brian is a "true racer" and as someone suggested once he has time to reflect I'm sure you'll see him back next week and not abandon the sport he loves..

Another thing I just thought about in this particular instance that added to the "clamity of circumstance" factor was how close these two drivers in question pit to one another. Not that I'm trying to justify acting in an agressive physical manner towards a fellow driver in anyway, just that it didnt probaly help in this instance. From the sounds of things it wasnt too much of a fight or anything, thus not suspension worthy in my eyes..

i have removed my previous posts, i feel responding to somebody that knows nothing is fuelling a fire that is unneeded. as for my actions, in hindsight i was impatient to get the lead and should have waited a few more laps. but who wants to wait , therefore bonehead moves get made. people don't understand the small fraction of time you have to react out there. i should have remained in my pit until possibly next week and i apologize to brian and his crew for both on and off the track. i hope brian comes back as he is a great competitor and considered a friend for many years. as for the owners, they are doing a bang up job and they really are a class bunch and i'm proud to say i work for them and are great friends. but don't bet for one minute that they wouldn't throw my ass out the door if i deserved it!!!! as forrest gump would say, "and that's all i've got to say bout that"!!
