What about the bunch-up restart rule?

Have to agree with RRRCREW on this one isn't the person at the start/finish line to handle this? and if they don't listen use the Black flag simple or am I missing something here ???

But how does allowing cars to gain positions under caution (where no pit stops are involved) have anything to do with RACING!

I agree that there is nothing worse than cars blocking and not providing a lane for the pursing car to try and pass. The starter has two flags that can be used to varying degrees to solve that problem without taking away from the way racing has been done forever.

I had to think on that for a while. Here at Delaware last year, they used the double up restart, but only for the big invitationals...not for weekly racing.

Is it fair? Yes. As long as everyone on the track is abiding by the same rules, its fair. One thing we noticed at Del last year was the tendency for the visiting guys to go to the outside. Visitors traditioonally don't do quite so well here, and the rule seemed to even things out a little.

If its about fairness, I tend to think that the absolute fairest way of doing it would be a total single file restart, lap cars on the outside lane. But that's boring.

Does it make things more chaotic? Yes. I'm not big on the idea of the running order getting scrambled up every time there's a restart, but that's just me. Some would say it makes for a better show however. It creates a little more chaos, and a little more opportunity for drivers to try and outfox one another, so that's cool. But ultimately a race is still a race.

Is it 'cheesy'? I tend to think it is, slightly, but not so much that its a deal breaker either. My own opinion is that I'd consider it for weekly racing, but go with the more formal "1st three single file" way of doing it for big races.

Bottom line for me: I don't think its really that big a deal....I don't think anything would suffer if we just let the drivers decide that one.

They did it on the weekly program as while, but not many drivers took advantage of it.
They should bring it back so we could see some side by side racing..

Why not from here out refer to the "double up" rule as the John Mombourquette rule?

Seemed he was the only one who started on pole - that nobody could ever pass..

It's like a chess match when your re starting. We are constantly on the radio saying if this guy goes high you stay low, etc. Basically take the lane the Inglis's aren't in. What helps the re start work at Barrie over Delaware is the outside lane works better at Barrie. So you have to guess which lane is going to move. STATSMAN I would have thought you would be for the re start as Keith always starts at the back of the pack like us, without it he wouldn't be able to move through the field as well. The only thing that I don't like about the re start is when cars that are terrible on the outside always take that lane because it is shorter, screwing the guys in behind.
