i want to go!
1st time- lost a tire 10 mins away
2nd time- dad didnt get off early enough
All I have to say is what a great night of racing at Barrie! Easily the most entertaining Wed event, and the others were good as well!!! The addition of the LLM definitely helped out crowd wise, and made the show more entertaining as a whole!! Gonna start off with the 4cyl this time!!! This was the most entertaining Pure Stock race I have seen since I went back to Barrie in 2004. For a 25 lapper this one had 5 different leaders from my accounts. #33 Dave Doucette moved into the lead early, but was quickly passed by Sunset's #45 Colt Carcone in 1&2. An early caution would negate the Carcone pass, as they were forced to go back a lap. Doucette, continued to lead for a couple more laps once green, when Carcone would bump and then spin "The Deuce" out of 4 to take over the lead. No caution came about cause Doucette just kept going after being spun( my guess was he just didnt want to sit in the middle of the track and run the chance of somebody piling into daughter Crystals car.) Carcone would lead for two more laps, when he was passed to the outside by #78 Jason Martin also of Sunset. Top qualifier #10 Doug Butler of Sunset would follow Martin around Carcone and move up to 2nd, with the hard charging #2 Ben Melenhorst quickly finding himself in third. Butler, would then take the lead with an inside pass of Martin in turn 1, with Melenhorst also finding his way by Martin's #78 Honda. Also putting on a charge was the ultra quick Neon of Sauble dominator #66 Mike Smith , who moved to 3rd after having to go to the rear after an early caution. This is where the race turned very interesting, Melenhorst would try Butler a couple times up high but lost a little steam when he drifted high out of turn 4. A couple laps later Melenhorst caught up to Butler again, and the two battled side by side, when Butler would get loose out of 4 and Melenhorst moved to the front of the field, but only after banging into the wall himself under the flagstand. The 66 of Smith also made his way past the loose Butler and closed in on Melenhorst, but Ben just managed to squeak out a victory by a narrow margin over the hard charging Sauble car of Smith. Butler held on for 3rd after starting 8th on the inversion draw. #97 Travis Hallyburton and Martin would round out the top 5. Heats to Melenhorst, Smith, Butler, and Hallyburton. One great race totally entertaining from start to finish. In the 35 lap LLM there was a few early cautions and then a 20 lap or so green flag run before a late caution. #48 Dwayne Baker would come home the victor, after passing son Kyle out of 4, after the young Baker had a slight slip up in that corner. #18 Kyle Baker ran a great race, holding onto 2nd until point leader McLeod would slip by with maybe 5 laps remaining if I was guessing. Rookie Baker would notch his first podium with a 3rd, with fellow rookie #84 Sean Cronan also having a career best 4th, in what was a stupendous run for him also. #9 Brandon Watson would continue a good string of Barrie runs with a 5th place showing. Very entertaining race, with lots of passing through the pack but the few early cautions did slow things up a little but after that it was smooth sailing for the drivers. Heats to McLeod, #10 Gord Shepherd, #17 Garry Reynolds and #97 Rob Inglis. All in all a great action packed evening of racing that I personally throughly enjoyed!! And a big thanks to all the visiting 4cyl drivers and our locals that showed, that was one awesome race!!! Cant stress enough how exciting you made it for the fans that were there!! Hope to see you all back next season for the invitationals!! Well there you have it the 20 min rundown!!!
