Well my computer time has been slightly lacking this week and didnt have the oppertunity to pump up this weekends events until now!!! This is essentially my Super Bowl of the race season at Barrie, as the always, quick and exciting TQ midgets set to invade the HIGH LINE!! Have been a long time admirer of the TQ's ever since a then 4 year old kid got to present the TQ feature winner a trophy at Pinecrest Speedway one night 35 years ago. This is my own personal preview of 5 guys I think will be on the move and charging to the front in the ever popular TQ's.
#82 James Gray ------- Last years winner at Barrie currently sits 2nd in the points, just 9 back of leader #84 Daniel Bois. Coming off a disappointing 8th at Sauble where he had trouble getting through the traffic as opposed to some other front runners, the 82 will be looking for redemption at BSW.
#74 Rob Neely ---------- The former Cascar Super Series competitor finished 2nd last year at Barrie, and has proven himself to be one of the fastest cars in the field on a night in / night out basis. Neely, is coming off a 7th at Sauble in a race run caution free and this drivers level of expierience makes him always a threat to win any given event.
#1 Todd Cresswell ---------- The defending series champion currently sits 3rd in points just 95 back of Bois!! Coming off two top 5 runs in back to back days at Sauble, expect this driver to be on his game as he hones in on a repeat of his 2007 title.
#12 David Balych----------- The winner of last years B feature at Barrie is coming off a solid 4th place at Sauble, after running up front all night. Only doing part time duty this year, but given the strong showing at Barrie last year I would expect this is one event the always competitive 12 wont miss.
#84 Daniel Bois----------- The point leader comes off a 3rd at Sauble, and the comparisons between that and the Barrie track are somewhat similiar. Dont know that much about this driver personally the only Daniel Bois I had heard of prior to the season was the former London Knight pugilist of the same name!!LOL But holding the point lead in what has become the best touring series in the province in no small feat in itself!!
I'm really interested to see how fast of laps these guys will rip off as they usually complete circuits in the 12.9-13.4 sec range at the fast and tight Barrie tri oval!!! Long live the TQ's as you are truly the best and most competitive racers around in my opinion and your show always rocks!!! I will predict no more than one caution in each race as well, and all true racing fans love a good flow to the races that the TQ's ALWAYS provide!!
this is going to be a quite a night...
The TQs are quite impressive - people dismiss them
as go-karts, but they're not.. TQs can be right up there
with times of late models or more.
I've talked to a current driver, that drove Super Modifieds,
and he said that although they're not as fast,
they are tougher to drive. The wheelbase is really! short.
Twitchy... (Tony Stewart grew up driving midgets..)
Note, the management ordered no lawn chairs for the night.
I've seen these guys wipe out a lot of fences...
Put that together with 2 LM features.
I'm going to be there...
the best touring series in the province
they're cool i guess, but the best in the province? a little strong i reckon....
DEFINITELY a lil strong, how can u say these guys are more entertaining than OSCAAR?!?!?!
you know what is really crzy?!?! This is the first Saturday in two months where there has not been a threat of rain in the forecast...freaky...
