The night the lights went out at BSW (night 6 ) report

Ok this is the 20 min rundown shortened to 17 1/2 min. due to the abbrievated night..LOL First off a bit more on that, rain moved in at 6:20 and it rained pretty hard for half hour or so, then the track drying procedure begins and the sun comes back out followed by fairly strong winds, and the track really dried up nicely for racing which began just shy of 8pm.. After full set of heats in all divisions and the LM 25 lap feature was complete during KOH all the track lighting suddenly goes out save for a few areas of the speedway.. What was originally thought to be a fuse problem turns out might have some deeper roots relating to transformer issues and the rest of the night gets cancelled as a result of these problems.. Onto the racing we did get in, and the LM 25 lap feature to be specific... What a dandy race this was, #57 Ron Quesnelle gets out to the lead from pole position after outbattling the 28 of Jongen for the first few laps door handle to door handle..Quesnelle was again looking tough tonight opening up a slender lead on Jongen with laps in the 14.7 sec. range, as #69 Al Inglis checks into 3rd behind Robin. After a lap 8 restart, Quesnelle again prepares for battle with Jongen to the outside of him once again.. On lap 10 while racing into 1, Quesnelle and Jongen lightly brush with the 28 getting a bit crossways forcing the outside line of cars to check up, as Inglis passes Jongen to the inside of turn 2 during this course of events..By this time Quesnelle has about a 4 or 5 car length advantage on the 69, who begins to reel him in with each passing lap , getting right to his bumper with under 5 to go. On the last lap the 57 tries to get around the 63 of Crumbie to put him a lap down, but the 57 goes a little too high in attempting this entering 3, and the 69 shoots through the gap created and passes the 57 for lead .. I think there was a bit of monor contact between the pair as the 57 emerges with some minor right front damage to the left front nose piece.. Great exciting finish though and the win for Inglis is his first since his return to Barrie at the beginning of the 2007 season , so that in itself was nice to see.. Quesnelle held on to finish 2nd, with #19 Keith Mcleod, Jongen, and #48 Dwayne Baker the remainder of the top 5.... Heats went to Quesnelle and Jongen.. Nice to see the Jongen win, as hes had a pretty tough couple of weeks on track.. Thunder heats went to 44 Doucette, 00 St.Onge, 22 Elliott, and 40 Brandon.. Pure Stock heats went to #2 Melenhorst, #99 Drew Stieler, #16 Penny, and #07 Rick Walt.. Not sure how or when the Pure Stock and Thunder features will be made up with the Mid Season championships up next week.. I dont think it will happen then. There was talks of a double feature night for these two divisions the following week (July 25th) but nothin concrete as of yet.. Also the possibility now exists of having a triple 25 lap feature night for LLM on Aug 1 which is the division sponsor Rama Moccasin & Smoke night so if that comes into fruition that will surely be a great event, and we need to make up tonights missed 35 lapper anyways so shortening that to 25 wouldnt be a big deal for most. One positive I personally appreciate the efforts of the owners tonight in waiting for the rain to pass to get some racing in.. Crowd while wasnt large, wasnt bad either with looming storm fronts in the area.. The final problem that ended the night was beyond anyone's control so no complaints there ( or there shouldnt be anyways).. I would of liked to see those fans that were patient through the rain delay and lighting issue be rewarded with maybe half price admission for showing this weeks ticket next weekend, but no such announcement was made. I think if that had of been done that would of been a really nice gesture... But heck what do I know????...... FROM THE CHEAP SEATS

Except that the mini stocks lose out on a traditional 40 lap mid season championship race as that is now replaced with a 20 lapper instead of a 40 lap purse payout. The track should just let the 40 lapper go this weekend and the make up feature on another date. They are not cutting the late model or thunder mid season championship laps.

The track should just let the 40 lapper go this weekend and the make up feature on another date. They are not cutting the late model or thunder mid season championship laps.

Actually Rick the Mid Season Champ originally scheduled for this coming Sat was only a 30 lapper for Pure Stocks anyways, so in essence their adding 10 laps for that class by running twin 20 lappers this weekend.. Dont know if they will determine a Mid Season champion by lowest finish in both races combined or not, but that would make the most sense to me and then do the same thing for the Thunders the following week..
