Well as the title suggests, didnt get a full night of racing in the books when the skies opened up just before the 2nd TC heat was about to take place.. Waited it out for a full hour before the track was deemed dry enough to race on again, then just as PS feature line up comes out on track it starts raining again (harder than it did to cause the original delay) and the night is called a wash..Entire sched (from the way I understand it) to be made up this coming Fri June 3rd with racing beginning at 7:30pm..Wristband policy in effect..
Onto the racing we did get in, including a pretty decent LLM feature.. Outside pole sitter #54 Randy Bull got the jump on #55 Steve Quesnelle from the drop of the green, and would continue to lead for the first 13 laps or so, until he was caught by #69 Al Inglis and #57 Ron Quesnelle.. Inglis was the first to slip by Bull, with Quesnelle following through a short while later.. Here is where the race would turn intertesting, when on lap 22, Inglis and Quesnelle would make contact between 1&2, as Mike Brown also suffered damage after coming to rest against the turn 2 wall while trying to avoid Quesnelle, who was now facing the wrong way on the track..Quesnelle stops down pit road after a brief word with Inglis on track..Brown is given back his 4th in the running order at the time of the incident.. Couple laps later Brown then retires to infield due to said damage incurred. Inglis goes onto win the race with laps in the 14.9 sec. range by about 3 car lengths over #8 Dave Lewis who ran a steady race to finish 2nd..Bull, would turn the outside pole starting spot into an impressive 3rd place result, while point leader Quesnelle battled back to finish 4th.. #10 Gord Shepherd rounded out the top five, after he too spent some time on pit lane after the lap 22 incident.. 9 Cars showed with Jongen absent at the NCATS race tonight..
Did manage to get a full set of PS heats in, and 4 different winners came of the form of point leader #39 Travis Hallyburton, #13 Dave Glaze, #15 Will Davies, and #23 Charlie Smith (subbing for Terry Tompkins) all taking checkered flags..Solid field of 24 cars again
#10 Rick Walt took the only TC heat that was completed on this night...Sorry for the shotty report but notes were at a premium.. 😉 There you have it .... FROM THE CHEAP SEATS..
and the sultry tones of one David vokey came over the PA system all night....good job in Bradley's absence!
Well thanks Thayner.. As I mentioned last week all you can do is try your best and have a bit of fun with it.. Wasnt the greatest night to be an announcer, as during that rain delay there was alot of time to fill and I ran outta things to talk about in a big hurry!! Thank god ROCK 95 was playing some decent tunes.. ;).. Bradley, wont have to worry about me puttin on a push for his job that's for sure.. Writing race reports is way more fun and relaxing......just my style...And rest assured vengance will be mine after Mr.Bradley's vacation destination pitstop at Mosport this weekend!!!lmao
Bit of a sad note upon arriving at the track when I found out Neil our turn 2 flagman collapsed from a annourysm or stroke mid week while out on some sort of work related gathering.. GET WELL SOON NEIL!!! But as racers do when the going gets tough they stand up for each other, and with a donation plate being passed around pitside over 1900 bucks was raised for Neil, which our awesome ownership group then matched... Rick and Diane should be once again commended for this act of kindness as should all those that donated or even passed some well wishes Neil's way..
So BFI is matching 4 thousand dollars? AWESOME!
HUH??? Ya lost me there bud!!! Who is BFI other than a sponsor of Gord Shepherd??? The way I understood it was that 1900 was raised amongst drivers and track staff, then our ownership group matched that to total 3800 raised for Neil...
