it only cost me about $1500.00 to rebuild my motor. New crank and bearings. 30 over pistons, 420 cam. valve job. 40 thou off the head and new valve springs and all that fun stuff.
Hey steeve i am prety sure we are only allowed 30 thou off the head
as the rules state from this season. who knows for next
the engine i was using cost twenty bucks in 2005 so i got my moneys worth
actually charger, the rules state no excessive shaving. Which means that you can shave the head so that it is all cleaned up. I think the exact was 38 thou and not 40 thou, just enough to clean it up. But I know off some guys with mustangs who took 100 thou off the head and then zero decked the block which is definately against the rules. I did my motor to the very most of the rules allowed. It would have been awesome to buy a motor and run for $20. But I cannot trust a junkyard motor, especially when the 4 banger engines run high rpm's! I took care of my motor!
;D i was sure we were only aloud 30thou but i dont have the rule at my finger tips so you are probably right lol it was'nt a junk yard motor though it was on someone else rebuilt then wrote off the car and could not get a penny for it. i called and he told if i got it out of his yard i could have it for twenty bucks. that said in the class we are in i have had prety good luck with junk yard motors
😮
wow guys...If you're paying $2600 for a stock rebuild, you're getting ripped off. I can get ya a stock rebuild for around $1500, since that is roughly the standard price.
Hondas, a race ready engine, the same as we've run for the last 5 years, I would assume $1400 with mostly new parts.
I would assume you're getting ripped off and not doing $1000 worth of some fancy stuff in there. (LOL) Just trying to help.
*shifty eyes, SHIFTY EYES*
😀 LMFAO yeah and you should see that coming in your rear veiw mirror scary
