The problem with a non points night is best illustrated by what it does to the tire bill, the track doesn't care what it does and I'll share my thoughts. It's the first race of the year, nobody has any tires yet, so, you have to buy 4. To start the year, the points year I'm talking about, you are allowed to buy so many tires, I'm not sure of the rule at SS but say it's 8 to start the year off. What are ya gonna do? Use 4 of your 8? Now your tires to start the year off have a night on them, and you haven't raced for points yet. The well funded teams, and buy the way that mean guys and gals with cash :D, will buy 4 and use them for heat races at an invitational somewhere down the line. In order to do this, you need tons of rims, or access or own a tire machine. Bottom line is, some guys just elect not to run at all and save the cash and tires. The teams that run get one night extra of what is essentially practice, and get an edge that way. The track could care less if teams take the night off cause they know they'll get a healthy gate on opening night, points or not, cause people are starved for some on track action. Plus they'll make a few extra bucks on the tires, and they know it. It's not exclusive to Sunset. If I was running a business, I would recognize that it's an easy way to grab a few extra greenbacks.
Ok Thanks Crowdpleaser,,Gotch ya Its nothing personal Just Bussiness,,Starved Drivers'' LOL Track time''= Money ....

I dunno about you scooter but maybe the people who came out dont race for points. They race because they love racing. If you are that strapped for cash dont come out to the first night if you are points racing its just that simple. Nothing wrong with the first night being a non points night. And for those who dont come. There is plenty of chances to come practice on wednesday nights to dial your car in if your affaird of missing the first night and being behind the 8 ball. I wish the new owners at barrie a great first year
