Real quick 20 min run down of the night's festivities before work.. Pretty decent night of racing all in all except for what I thought a really low Thunder count and some typical opening night glitches..
Both LLM features won by #57 Ron Quesnelle, who clearly had the fastest car and was the man to beat on this night.. 1st feature was pretty decent with Shepherd getting the lead from outside pole, after getting the jump on newcomer Randy Bull.. Quesnelle started 4th, and would work by Shepherd on the outside entering corner 3 at lap 9, after hounding him on sucessive laps racing out of 2, a few laps prior.. Bull would fall into 3rd, and that would be your top 3 at the finish..#2 Mike Brown would have a really solid run to finish 4th, with #8 Dave Lewis rounding out the fast five..
Quesnelle started dead last in the 2nd feature and would pass pole sitter #28 Robin Jongen on lap 22, after Jongen had braking issues and drifted high out of 2.. Great clean race between those 2, who finished 1-2 at the checkered..Defending track champ #69 Al Inglis finished 3rd, with Shepherd and a returning #11 John Gaunt the fast five..
As mentioned only a disappointing 7 Thunders showed but the racing between the top 4 was pretty stellar.. #10 Rick Walt would take the win from the outside pole, after what was pretty much a race long duel with the 12 of Belesky.. Again this part of the night was a definite highlight, featuring good clean racing and sportmanship.. #55 Shawn Goggins continues to impress, earning a workmanlike 3rd.. CRO's own Thayne Hallyburton finished 4th with #21 Desi Walt completing the top 5.. Heats to Belesky and Rick Walt..
Nice field of 21 4 cyl cars took green and #39 Travis Hallyburton would take the feature win after a great mid race duel with the #13 of Dave Glaze.. Glaze would later encounter misfortune with 2 laps remaining as he got slightly loose out of 2 and was sent around and towards the inside retaining wall on the nose of 26 Ben Melenhorst..
Melenhorst, the 2009 division champ would finish 2nd, with #400x Dan Nolan, #88 John Mitchell, and #23 Terry Tompkins the top 5.. Four different heat winners came in the form of Hallyburton, Glaze, Mitchell, and #02 Shawn Murray.. One guy that did impress me in this class was the 63 car... for a rookie kept a clean nose and on the lead lap.. Also thought sophmore #11 Adam Misener did a real nice job in his new #11..There you have it.. FROM THE CHEAP SEATS..
