TAJ

thats the whole problem with the crate motor program it should only be one builder so that it can be kept above board much easier. If way to many builders become involved a whole new can of worms gets opened up.

Exactly!!!

It should be reputable shops. I have even heard that some teams are doing crates themselves. I would question that for sure.

For TAJ, i was just pointing out that John Stefko has an excellent reputation. Surley you will go where you want, maybe the the shop that is close to you. We chose John and are willing to commute the 5 hour drive.

Greasemonkey.

I agree with both sides Johns engines speak for themselves they are awsome and he supports racing everywhere he can,,, but there is local shops starving because of this program and they too are quite reputible and deserve the chance. So maybe there should be some program where John can work with the locals and make everybody happy.???

that is exactly why i hate the crate motor program , everyone was all over it but failed to realize that it was going to hurt local engine shops. But also if a crate motor program is going to work that is the only way that it can be controlled. So if you want to let another builder redo a crate be prepared for a tear down otherwise the crate program has no integrety. From all the rumours the crate motor program is already out of hand anyway.

In the Lates, Walters will be on a mission to become the first ever to win the Champ 3 years in succession

Didn't Simon Stolte win 5 in a row in the mid-late 80's for Late Models?

Simon was the track champion in the top division at Barrie from 1986 through 1990. He also won many touring series events and championships in those days. He had a relatively short career but it was very successful.

Brian Malcolm won three titles in four years 1982, 1984 and 1985 in the Sportsman and Ian Bourque did the same in 1990, 1992 and 1993.

BTW, my records show Garry Reynolds and Tom Walters tieing for the 6 Cylinder title in the aborted 1974 season. That would make Walters a 3-time Barrie Champ. I don't know if he got a trophy but I know John Eacott did for the LLM title that year.
