About 15 years ago i went to the SCCA run offs in Daytona . I was amazed at how much HP the 4 cylinders made and how many RPM they were turning . I have been playing with Nissan Honda and Mitsubishi's since then .

240racer reread my previous post to determine which engine you have , but heres the two main things .
Cars with an Air Temperature Sensor on the air cleaner box have the
8.6 to 1 engine.
If your engine has a serial # higher then KA24-012039 it is a 8.6 to 1 engine

One of the biggist problems i see the 240 guys having is gearing and there is no reason for it since there are lots of gears available for your car .
All 240s have a R200 rear end with a 4.08 gear in them . Heres a list of other Nissan gears from other models that will fit your car .

    http://nico.dreamhosters.com/hosting/nissan_gear_ratios.xls

    Here are some others

Z33 - MT - R200 - 3.538
Z33 - MT - R200V - 3.538
Z33 - AT - R200V - 3.357
Z32TT - R230V - 3.692
Z32 - R200V - 4.083
G35 - Sedan - AT - R200 - 3.357
G35 - Sedan - MT - R200V - 3.538
G35 - Sedan - AWD - AT - R200 - 3.357
G35 - Coupe - MT - R200V - 3.538
G35 - Coupe - AT - R200 - 3.357
G35 - Coupe - AT - R200V - 3.357
Q45 - G50 - R200V - 3.538
Q45 - FY33 - R200V - 3.692
R32 GTR - RB26DETT - MT - F160 - 4.111 - (Front Final Gear)
R32 GTR - RB26DETT - MT - R200 (Mechanical LSD) - 4.111
S15 - MT - R200H - 3.692
S15 - AT - R200V - 3.916
S14 - KA24DE - 4.083
S14 - SR20DET - MT - R200V - 3.692
S14 - SR20DET - AT - R200V - 3.915
S13 - KA24DE - 4.083 - (Both R200 and R200V)

There are also at lest 4 truck transmissions with different ratios available that will bolt right up to your engine . Using all the combinations with transmissions and crown and pinions you have over 20 gear ratios available to you which is allot more then even the Ford guys have .  Next get rid of that two piece drive shaft you have . Cut the ends off and have a one piece shaft made at your local drive line shop . Tell them to build it as light as possible since they are use to building them for 4x4 trucks and V8 cars they tend to over build them (too heavy)

i have researched all of those different rear ends at the wreckers and stuff but none of them look like they bolt right in. and they seem to have different pinion lengths..besides i dont even think they'd be legal because they never came in an s13..and i have thought about getting a one peice drive shaft but at the same time thats not stock either so im not sure what tech would say...the 2 piece is definatly a disadvantage and its weighs a ton...but if my car was any faster i would just get weight added anyway lol...the biggest problem is the handling..it was pretty dialed until it got into the wall the last time and it hasent been the same. next year its getting a whole new k-frame and basically everything behind it including new frame rails, floor and quarter panels...and Matt ill think about that rear end and get back to ya on it if im interested...might be good for invitationals...thanx guys
