While what you say is true Thunder6 there is allot of potential in the bottom of a 2.3 and it is where you can get it through tech every week . Lighten and balance the crank assembly replace the stock rods with either Chev small block or the even lighter and stronger Crowers . Add to that a lighter fly wheel and clutch assembly and not only will it turn a bunch more RPM but it will get up there a whole bunch quicker . Fuel is a place you can make big gains and a place that some places like Sunset never check and I rarely see Barrie check and you can always play Michael Waltrip if you get caught , i am a victim of sabotage , I don't know how it got in there , I will fire my crew chief etc .
I have never understood why people are so afraid to run EFI in this division because it really is the way to go and gives you a cornucopia of things you can do to find HP.
To be honest Pinecrest I really am quite dumb when it comes to 2.3L Fords. They are like a foriegn language to me. I'm a Dodge guy who happens to be learning a lot about Chevrolet small blocks, that stuff crosses over pretty easy, same ideas, just new parts numbers and stuff. Thanks for tuning me in on the Ford.
I think there are alot of the flywheel mods out there....i looked into it, but with my tranny it requires too much fab. for my liking....
I remember my Dad telling me that they went to get Mitch Casey to take his oil plug out but it wouldn't come off, so they just took the whole oil pan off... They only have checked the chargers for that.
97purestock, they have checked for lightened flywheels in the past and all the Mustangs they have checked have passed. They have NEVER checked Honda's or VW's and I'll place my bets that they never will. Its a shame that they fired Joe things were looking up. I heard that Slaughter and Burrows cried like they always do and got there way, I think tech was getting too close for there likings. What about when just Mustangs were getting lead but none of the other faster cars ever got any. It would be great if the teching was more consistent and if tech payed more attention to cars when they drive buy they wouldn't even have to touch engines. Have seen lots of cars that still won't pass ride height and have also seen cars with camber on wheels that according to Barrie rules should be straight up and down and still regardless of the three warnings so far this season am seeing rims that stick out way past the wheel well openings.
