2 way radios in thunder?Next stop NASCAR..........
So what was the clarification on the bodies?
No more airplanes, steel panels, ashpalt nose and tails.
actually when the 2 ways went to a vote....the ones against the two way radios out number those who did want them....but most of were just fed up with arguing about it and arguing with the the tech team that was for them......however i do have question people were saying there isnt a way to police if someone is using a two instead of a one way.....that was one of the arguments from the "pro" 2-way club...including the track tech team saying you cant determine either way.and that they are cheaper and blah blah blah....where does that leave the ministock guys...obviously they can easily get away with 2 ways apperently, so why not just allow them to aswell (which im not for)....if that is your argument that they can easily get away with it.....the only guys who voted in radios are guys who already have them....or have easy acess to them.... if you need a spotter in thunder cars there is something wrong with you......maybe only allow a spotter for guys who have a containment seat and/or a hans...as their view would be restricticted.........
Wow Mike, I must have been at a different meeting.
It wasn't that you could get away with using 2 ways. If someone wanted a spotter without a 2 way then that is easy and nobody can poilce it, cell phone with ear buds! easy. It's been done.
Regarding the radios, the track wants EVERYONE to have one ways for the line up. One ways are $100.00 and thats the RULE. Tech wasn't all for the 2 ways it was a split vote 6 to 6 so the track said to do what you want. In more simple terms if you HAVE 2 ways use them, if you want 2 ways then go ahead, if you don't then buy the one way!
There is no gun to anyones head to spend more than $100.00 plus ear buds!!!
yetti69, why do you chronically bitch about things that nobody is forced into.
At the end of the meeting i would have to say that the track and the tech department saved each driver well over $1000.00 of upgrades that other people wanted. But again even if those were to go thru too you don't HAVE to do it, it's allowed.

You do have to have a one wayEither you are new or ignorant, no I am neither of thoseas you should well know that anything that is option might as well be mandatory if you want to run upfront. Run without the radio, well after you get sick and tired of the guy with the radio slamming the door on you all the time, and you are unable to return the favor you either quit or you buy the radio. End of the year, there will not be a car out there that matters without one. Same as every new costly rule that is added. standard transmissions and floaters from last yearName one where that didn't come true?
why not add a 7.876 lbs penalty for anyone running a 2-way system?
Don't cloud the issue with crap like its $100 ear buds.. The rule was to allow 2-way system costing $500- $1,000, which has nothing to do with mandating $100 one way race-cevers. Yes I know the crafty cheat can simply dial the race-cever to whatever frequency and get 1-way spotting... Truth is in today's 5-10 car fields, you don't even need a race-cever to line the field.. Its like I said, you always chase the cheats rather than catching them, you will bankrupt yourself and kill the sport. Were you at the meeting yesterday? The intent was nowhere near what you might think.
That you think money was "saved" is a real problem....no, it's a real solution! Leaving things as they are is an option believe it or not, and they did a good job at that by not allowing headers, aftermarket suspension and fiberglass bodies. The only added cost is $100.00 for one way radios! compared to that your meeting saved nothing. With your logic I just "saved" myself 10 million today, when I didn't start my own Cup team.
You can think about it anyway you like, I saved a few billion because I didn't buy Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
