I'm suprised noones mentioned Barries new pure stock rules. Am I they only one whos noticed you can run 200hp cars that only have to weigh 2300lbs? And they wont let rwd cars run dohc, and put a 200lb weight penalty on Nissan 240sx's. And VW's are exempt from camber rule?

So basically my 140hp car has to weigh 2800lbs

But a 200hp Integra only has to weigh 2300lbs

Good job Barrie Speedway on pulling a bunch of rules out of your ass and basically allowing people to build 8 thousand dollar thunder car killers.

those rules are curious. the mustangs, with cams, headers should be closer now. Mustangs should get to 140+ hp now. Nissan is there (but heavy now), Neons are there, and aren't those ZC 1.6 honda about that hp? Letting dohc honda vtecs on the track is a can of worms you just don't want to open. The sharpest Honda tech guy wouldn't be able to sort out all the various combos available, let alone the hi hp straight stock stuff. There was a brown Accura (kawartha car?) at fall colours last year, won the consi and didn't run the feature. people watching said if the guy had half a clue how to drive, he could have lapped the field. he'd get out of shape and lose several lengths just about every corner and have it all back by the next corner

is there a vw running at Barrie? why the rules specific to vw? Won't matter anyway. golf, jetta, scirroco never came carbed so no carbs "Cars originally equipped with fuel injections may opt to use a carburetor, intake manifold, air cleaner and mechanical fuel pump from an older model of the same car" so they will have to be fi, therfore stock cam. don't think a 95hp golf will compete here well.

very curious

A mid-80's vw scirroco makes 150 hp

small correction (sorry, i'm a vw guy)
http://www.autotech.com/appchart.htm

engine codes bottom of the page.
hottest engine the scirroco ever came with was 1988
"pl" is a 1.8l dohc 16v 1988 scirroco (and 88-90golf gti) 120 hp . 2100lbs if i read rules right
"9A" is 2l dohc 16v engine code, 90-92 golf gti 133hp. 2300lbs if i read rules right

don't think i'd be building one to compete with any vtec hondas.
i wish the scirroco made 150hp... i was just curious why vws were singled out for different rules (when almost nobody runs them). It's obvious why mustangs were given more, and the 240s success is probably why it got singled out for special treatment

but it is a curious rule set...
