Hate to be the fly in the ointment but unless they are going to be nascar thunders i don't think you have anything to worry about next year! I just don't think you're going to see late models there next year. Figure the payout on the late models with two features a night just is'nt viable, i personally hope they can figure out a way to keep the late models, i just don't know how. No late models probably means  no nascar :-

Sunset going to NASCAR sanction would be the best thing that happened up there for both tracks IF.........
IF they can agree to run different nights and alternate these nights
IF they can agree to harmonize their rules
IF the race teams embrace it and run for Whelen points
IF they can work together on package deals for season tickets
IF they do the above it would make it more appealing for Delaware teams to make the trip once in a while for Whelen points
IF they can agree to swap their tech guys every once in a while
IF.....

Oh hell what am I thinking. Never mind.

Sunset can't because they are located to close to Barrie Speedway. Nascar already said they won't pick them up for that reason, it's in their policy or something.

Where has NASCAR stated that Sunset can not become a Home Track?

a) There is no Policy

b) There is no "something"

NASCAR simply decides yes or no based upon a race tracks application ($$$, business plan, history, etc.) and references. NASCAR would get feedback from Barrie AND Delaware and make a decision. QED. Hickory Motor Speedway and Concord Speedway are 60 miles apart in the U.S., both hosting Whelen Touring and are NASCAR 'Home Track" venues.

It should be noted that NASCAR Canada is two entities across the country, one is solely intended for the Canadian Tire Series and the other geared to marketing the NASCAR brand. Home Tracks is operated and managed out of Daytona. If Sunset Speedway hosted a Canadian Tire Series event, it would have no bearing on its application becoming a Home Track venue, but it certainly wouldn't hurt. NASCAR's Home Track management has no influence on NASCAR Canada's scheduling or venues it chooses for NCTS.

Whatever Wide Open Motorsports management decides, it will be a favorite for many drivers and fans. Somehow I don't think becoming a NASCAR Home Track is high on their priority list. It certainly would be great to see them get a Canadian Tire event and that's been 'talked' about, but I don't think anyone in the public has direct knowledge of any discussions, indications that it will be hosting a 2011 event - time will tell.

If through osmosis, Sunset becomes a NASCAR Home Track, it opens up a number of interesting opportunities...

There's growth opportunities for both race tracks. Earlier this year NASCAR's Home Tracks program got a shot in the arm with renewal of its primary partner Whelen Engineering for three of its Touring Series and Home Track programs.

Whelen's Motorsports Marketing group has renewed its sponsorship of the All-American Series (and other Tours) through 2019. It's a positive sign of corporate support for stock car racing, seeing growth opportunities in supporting racing at the local level, provincial and national level across North America for the long haul.

Without a significant partner, there would be no Home Track program. All the LED's on my trailer are Whelen products.

What I really want is a set of their Pioneer Plus lights to mount on the back of the trailer. I've seen a set operating at night..damn! It was DAYLIGHT!
