Thanks, and sorry, I get you two mixed up sometimes..lol...i read too fast i guesse...
well the charger feature was a good one. going green to checkered as the 14x of Paitra Surerus won her first feature race at the high line. Starting on the outside of row one nobody gave the 14x a good run for the top spot throughout the race. The battle on the track was between the 1 and 2 points position holders as Dave Crumbie edged out Shawn Monette at the line for the 8th spot in the feature. Shawn Monette will be trailing Crumbie by 1 point going into the 2nd last night of the season on Septemeber 15th. In the middle of the field it was a tight battle as Mitch Casey and myself (Steeve Melson) worked through traffic together finishing 4th and 5th respectively. Tech inspection found that the 21 car driven by Desi Walt had spring rubbers in her front springs as was DQ'd after a 2nd place finish. the 49 of Mike Woodward would finish 3rd in his Nissan in his last night at the highline before returning to his school studies. There ya go folks that's how I saw everything happen from the drivers seat in the race.
Props to my dad Dave Melson who bought the 50 thundercar hourse efore the evebing races began. He started way back in 18th place in the feature and was battling with the top pack of cars when a brake failure caused the track to give my dad the black flag a little prematurelt as he was not the cause of St Onge's woes. I spoke with Darryl a real stand up guy as he helped my dad in protesting the call made by the track. A sportmanlike thing on the part of St. Onge to help clear it up with the track. Although my rbother Jay Melson was lipping off at Steeve St. Onge and this caused the reversal of the black flag to be re instated for a crew member infraction.
Props to young lion Kyle baker who although started towards the front of the field, looked like a veteran out on the track collecting his 2nd ever feature win in his #48 Monte Carlo..The first of the season for young Baker.
As for the late model incident with Baker and Mcleod, where I was sitting it appeared that the 69 of Ingles touched the quarter of Baker and Mcleod seemed to not lift driving right through the already sideways Baker. It is unfortunate that Baker was the only car that was to go to the back as he made a pit stop forcing him to not allow to protest his position prior to the caution. Baker did make it back up to 7th position. Baker will have a slim margin of a 6 pt advantage going into next weeks featrue race. tight points battles are in every division with the exeption of the Pure Stock "A" division as Dave Burrows holds the largest point lead of all the divisions at the highline.
Next week will be a great show and I hope that the place is packed, the weather is great and the racing is even better. See you all at the highline on Sept 8th.
Great Reports Steeve & Thayne. Who won in the Pure Stock "A" division.
