Ok quick 20 min rundown until the work call comes in.. Pretty decent night of racing, quick and efficient night the way I like it.. Racing started at 7pm and was over by10:15.. A few cautions in both of the LLM features, but Thunders went caution free and only one caution in the 4s.. Holy hell was it hot early in the afternoon, I thought the track would be slicker than goose dung through the heat races, but the drivers I talked to after said it wasnt too bad..

In the Late Models, it was the top two banana's in the point standings Baker and McLeod who would split the twin 30 lap feature races, with Baker also notching a 3rd to McLeod's 5th in the alternate features. The gap between the two was widened by current point leader Baker, with 27 points separating the two heading into Baker's main sponsor's night next weekend. Once again CRO's own #14 "Hurricane" Thayne Hallyburton showed remarkable ability to hang tough on the outside, coming home a career best 2nd in a Late Model, in this just his rookie season.

Hallyburton, would use the outside line virtually the entire race, first to challenge early race leader #2 "Hometown" Mike Brown, and then over a series of late race restarts on the outside of the 2008 track champ McLeod, as those two came to the line side by side, with Baker tucked directly in behind looking for any type of slip up from the lead duo en route to his 3rd place finish at the checkered.

LLM Feature #1 -- 1st #48 Dwayne Baker , 2nd #69 Al "Red Rocket" Inglis, 3rd #57 Ron "The Dominator" Quesnelle, 4th #10 Gord Shepherd, 5th #19 Keith McLeod.. This was a pretty good race as well, had 2 late cautions but none for anything of any real significance. Baker and Inglis battled door to door for quite some time after a mid race restart, and when Inglis finally cleared Baker the caution came out, relining the two wily veterans side by side again. This time, Baker would power to the lead on the outside, after another two solid laps door handle to door handle with the 69. Shepherd and Quesnelle also had a great clean dice for 3rd in the late going, with Quesnelle just nipping Gordie at the line for that spot.

LLM Feature #2 -- 1st McLeod, 2nd #14 Thayne Hallyburton, 3rd Baker, 4th #2 Mike Brown, 5th Quesnelle.. Of note, the 69 of Inglis had something go wrong under hood or a tire goin down on the last couple laps as he really slowed and lost a couple more positions on track.

In the Thunder Cars, it was the two time and defending track champ #12 Jim "Polish Prince" Belesky who captured his 1st feature win of the season. Belesky, would take the lead on lap 6, getting to the inside of the ever improving #21 Desi Walt in turn 3, and completing a pass with #10 Rick Walt and #24 Leonard Johnston following that move one lap later to check into 2nd and 3rd respectively. Belesky, would open up a 2 car length lead over Walt with laps in the 15.9 sec. range, when Walt would lose 2nd to Johnston, who passed the current point leader low in turn one on lap 20. Give 1st to Belesky, 2nd to Johnston, 3rd to Walt, 4th to #00 Darryl St. Onge, and 5th to rookie #39 Travis "The Enforcer" Hallyburton.

Heat wins went to #44 Dave "The Deuce" Doucette with a pair, Rick Walt, and Desi Walt.. First ever win in a Thunder for the 21 car, in her fourth season in the division,, As with the 14 of Hallyburton in the Lates, the gains the 21 Thunder has made in recent weeks is nothing short of remarkable.. These are just two examples of drivers with their programs headed in the right direction who no doubt will be in store for better things in the future..

In Pure Stocks, as the title suggests a new yet familiar face found victory lane as #99 Drew Stieler brought home the win in the 20 lap main.. Pole sitter Stieler, would lead flag to flag in this one, surviving a late race challenge from the duo of #09 Dean Curry and #49 Larry "Doc" Woodward who finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Co point leaders heading into the event, #9 Charlie Smith and #11 Adam Misener both had some bad luck in this one, as Smith broke early and retired to the infield, while Misener got caught up in a lap 12 pile up, that also took out third place point man #15 Will Davies. Misener, was able to mount an 8 lap charge towards the front to finish 5th at the checkered, but the points hit wasnt as bad as it could of been for Smith after the early retirement. #400 Justin Holmes also had a solid race night coming home in 4th, this after being involved in a terrible crash in a heat race in turn 4 that ended the night for the 06 of Ryan Hardy as well.. So big shout out to the 400 team for getting that car back out there and getting a decent result out of the feature at least. At the finish it was Stieler, Curry, Woodward, Holmes, and Misener who comprised the fast five.

Four different heat winners came in the form of Stieler, Misener, Davies, and Smith.. Thats All I got for now, duty calls.. Till next week...signing out... FROM THE CHEAP SEATS!!! 😉 😉
